If I could make what I make in NYC in Vancouver I’d move there in a heartbeat.
If I moved there today I would likely be looking at a 40-50% pay cut with almost same COL.
In Vancouver until I left to work in the US! Whenever I say I’m from Vancouver people wonder why I would ever wanna live in my current city haha
Would love to make it back some day. Guilty, but I’m one of those “bad” Canadians that leave the country for $ next door
Career and pay - 100%. I can make the move back to Vancouver easily if I want to given my experiences now, but the other way around it harder.
Happiness and personal (non work) growth? Not so much. I found it much harder for me to make friends. The work culture in the States is also a lot more intense than what I experienced in Canada.
But overall hey, I’m still in my 20s. My plan is to suffer for a couple more years and move back. Would be happy to settle with an equal pay job with no more salary growth
Side question, what would be considered a good salary in Vancouver? How much of a pay cut would you take to live in Vancouver?

Oh boi. Ohhhhh boi oh boi. You are going to pay an arm a leg and probably a kidney over there. Beautiful city although demographics recently getting biased towards errrrmmm a specific set. Just an awesome city. But pay for it dearly you shall !
A1 What’s your ethnicity? Not like self hating Asians don’t exist.

I would 💯 be in Vancouver, but the pay is not where it needs to be for the cost of living.
Anyone based in Vancouver with a job in Seattle? Have thought of that as a potentially good combo...
