“What’s important are your skills… not your degree”. Got an email from our communications group at work today. Some coworkers who have a degree didn’t get this. In short it was saying “we want to help you grow your skills” with an invitation to talk to my manager and sign up for a “non degree development initiative”. As a professional in my 40s man, honestly felt demoralizing to get an email like that because I’m intensely sensitive around this topic. I don’t have a degree. Just some college

I think your feelings about it are valid, and it's not surprising you feel that way with the emphasis some people put on degrees. That being said, you got to where you are today without one, so I would say you're doing alright. Potentially check out the initiative and see if it could result in a bonus/pay raise/etc? If so, it may be worth it for that alone, regardless of the fact that not having a degree is completely fine.

You should be proud that you are where you are right now even without having one. Your skills and talent are at par with those who have. What more if you have that degree? You could bee the boss.

Correct. Makes me wonder if this place is limiting me based on not having a drgree

Your feelings are valid, but definitely the result of your individual experience and hangups. They haven't done anything wrong with this email. Might be worth it to spend some time thinking about why you place so much importance on a degree when you've made it so far without one.

My brother is a b.com graduate(2020 passed out) and looking for a job.
The problem here is because Finance jobs requires exceptional skills and academics due to which he is not able to get shortlisted for most job interview screening, he is receiving interview calls from great companies but not able to convert them.
If anybody can help even with an Internship position at their firm that would be a great starter to his career.
