What’s it like to not hate your job?

If you sort of enjoy accounting and serving clients I would recommend switching firms. PwC is, by far, the worse work life balance of the big 4.

I assume you hate your job, you know what that feels like. “Not hate” feels like you work to collect a paycheck. Like those who hate their job you’re irritated by those who love their job except you don’t resent them for it. A job you love, majority of the time feels like you’re not working and at times you wonder why people pay you to do what you do.

like

Actually very accurate. I’m envious of my coworkers who enjoy their job as my fear is that I won’t enjoy any career in business so I’m more so just panicking a bit

like

BT 1 I just feel like I was sold on false promises. I had a background in finance but I got a risk assurance offer with PwC and was told you can’t go wrong there and can always go back to finance if I didn’t enjoy it. But I’ve been shopping around and no finance roles will even look at me because my experience isn’t relevant. So I’d say the biggest reason I’m unhappy is because I feel stuck and it fills me with anxiety

Most people work for the sake of collecting a paycheck and having food on the table. You know that you don’t hate your job when going to work doesn’t feel like a chore. That ideal job is hard to come by.

like

Keep fighting to get back into finance. Maybe you can move internally.

@KPMG 1 I thought Deloitte held those honours? But PwC is a close second tho.

@OP I’ve felt the way that you feel now and loved my job within 6 months of each other. Why are you currently unhappy?

KPMG 1 that’s good advice. I didn’t interview with any firms but I do IT audit and I just feel like this work life balance is not something I can keep doing it I have no life outside of work

Kind of niche question here but under NY CPLR, if a plaintiff files a MTD/MSJ, and then the defendants file opposition papers containing information that the court had previously ordered to be kept under seal, would you a) file a reply asking to seal/strike the opposition papers or b) file a separate OTSC since you’re now seeking additional relief not sought in the original motion?

Has anyone taken part of the education reimbursement program? I’ve been here for 4 years and I’m thinking of obtaining my Master’s in Organizational Leadership, but I feel like with this merger, if I started the program and then there are layoffs or too many new hires, or work just becomes overwhelming, I wouldn’t be able to complete my program. I’m already wearing multiple hats when it comes to work. Does anyone have insight on how it works/what it’s like? Thanks in advance!

received offer from company A that explodes end of next week. completed final round for company B (though they said there could potentially be 1 more) few days ago and they said I can expect to hear back this week/early next week. Should I email them on Monday letting them know I have another offer that is exploding or wait to see if they send me something by Wednesday?
