1. Chicago is amazing...especially in the summer time
2. Lincoln park, river north, lakeview
3. River north is pretty nice to go out and west loop
4. Cons: rent can be expensive and the winters suck Pros: just overall a nice city
5. Crime is in pockets, very specific neighborhoods and blocks. I think the media likes to hype up the crime but it was worse a long time ago. Anywhere you live you should be vigilant
Agree with above. Neighborhood will vary based on how much you’re willing to pay and your interests. I prefer to live a little further from the bars and uber there instead. It’s quieter and closer to the highway/less traffic, but still close to everything
You can also consider Streeterville, Gold Coast, South Loop, West Town, and River West. The last three will be a bit quieter but within 10-15 min of the bars, depending where you’re going. Public transit is also great. We have fantastic museums, bars, restaurants, etc Traffic and the cold not so good.
Crime is an issue, but the neighborhoods we’ve listed are generally safe. However, it is a big city, so being aware of your surroundings is always a good idea.
Edgewater is cheaper. Above the loop
I ageee with D1, Chicago is great and it's cheap to live here compared to NYC and LA. Logan Square and Wicker Park are great areas. Nearly all the crime is contained in the far West side and the far South side where gang members fight over drugs. The rest of Chicago is extremely safe and full of plenty of places to eat and drink.
I’ve toyed with idea of relocating to Chicago too. I love the South Loop area.
Wicker park is nice too, just as close as Lincoln park
Thanks for the insight everyone! Edgewater is too far for me. Was thinking river north, near north side, or Lincoln park.
