I joined a new company a couple of months ago; but recently I got another offer from another company and it is giving a little better package and a good profile. While I have made up my mind that I'll join the new company, I was wanting to know if anyone from here can I advise me on how do I convey this to my current organization? Big question for you guys! I’ve been an in house photographer for a mid size women’s clothing brand (500+ stores & ecomm) for over 5 years and shoot everything from on/off fig ecomm, flatlays, and campaigns. I’m the only staff photographer - freelancers get booked for the holes we need to fill on any given day. I currently make 60k. I’ve just been asked to take charge of our ecomm - oversee the freelance photographers & retouchers, art direct ecomm, and continue to shoot. Is 98k too much to ask?

How do you handle micro managers? I’m a second year transactional associate and for the most part the partners and senior associates I work for trust me to get the work done. But this one guy is constantly checking up on me, asking for status of deliverables long before the deadlines he gave me, and just generally pestering me on everything I do. I am going to go insane if don’t figure out a way to stop this.

The only thing accurate about the show Suits, when it comes to the practice of law, is that lawyers work late into the night. The most inaccurate thing is that files are neatly contained in tiny blue folders - oh and that people apologize after being a jerk 😂

M&A/corporate lawyers - what project/deal management system does your team use (if any)? My group has about 6 or 7 of us and probably 15 deals and 4 public company clients. We’re looking for a way to keep track of who’s working on what (not specific tasks but more like what deals, status of those deals, capacity).

Decision - I was out the door of my nationwide ins dfense firm. Was going to top local firm with a lot more clout where everything would be private pay and I’d be more on bigger exposure cases. However, my firm outmatched the new firm, made a much better bonus structure, and said I could do more work with their complex bus lit group. I’d still likely do about 50 percent ins defense but I really like the partners I work for, and I handle own cases/take depos, and get autonomy. Am I right to stay?

What is a junior lit attorney’s (2-3 years) signing bonus looking like these days when lateraling? How about if retooling to transactional work?

Another home-grown associate is leaving my group… we experienced at least 2/3 attrition in 2021 and I thought I had grown used to this, but it still got me feeling a little down. I’m a fourth year cap markers US associate in London. Started my career here after law school and looking to lateral back to a firm in the US. Genuinely open to anywhere but have long term prospects of making partner, and conscious that majority of my practice here has been unregistered work. Should I just head back to NY (went to law school there and barred in NY) and gain more SEC registered experience should I be looking for more secondary markets since long term would not want to stay in NY

How do you all take care of things outside of work? The last thing I want to do after being hyper-organized at work is figuring out my budget or retirement plan or scrubbing the bathtub or figuring out what to buy at the grocery or planning a vacation. I feel so burnt out I can only just sleep on weekends and can’t bring myself to go out or even do basic self care. I feel bad putting this all on my husband and how would I even have the energy to raise kids??

Senior BL (M&A) associate here ready to quit, even though I haven’t lined anything up yet. Just had enough of it all. Anything I should keep in mind? Fortunate to be in a very strong financial position, so not worried about that aspect. Current goal is to exit law for something business side (hope to achieve this mainly through my network).
