As far as I know we don't have a limit for lunches or dinners while on travel, but it has to be "reasonable". If you're spending 150 per day on dinners, I expect finance will send you an email, but if it happens once in a while it's probably not a big issue.

like

Lol @A1 I heard Bain's is like that 150 for dinner and 50 for lunch... wtf?!

like

Highly doubt that

150 for dinner everyday monday through Thursday? Or per week

Aren't expenses a % of the total project? So if a junior consultant bills $20k a week, and the ratio of expenses previously agreed with the client is 10%, the consultant would have roughly $2k a week in expenses. You don't need to spend it all, and the budget is shared across colleagues, but it gives an idea... $150 for dinner is quite a lot every day, but once a week or so seems fine to me. I've had dinners at >$500pp and extended periods of time eating cafeteria food... as long as the team stays within budget no one really cares.

Exactly^ expense W.e expensive team dinner you want as long as you're within budget at the end of your engagement .

@Accenture1 - house of lies was based on our expense policy actually... it's pretty accurate for us

Btw we, as well as most of MBB I imagine, don't really have an expense policy. Dinners can go up to $1000 per person or higher sometimes. It's all driven by the expense budget of the project. No set amounts for breakfast lunch dinner drinks etc

What does your retirement budget look like? Assuming no debt. What is your expected basic minimum expenditures (core life)? And what are you budgeting for fun and luxury? My basic is around 10k a month for taxes and food and transport and utilities. Luxury and fun is another ten. Big expense in basic is property tax. Big expenditure in fun is travel. I think my basic budget is too high and I could bring it down and be very happy in a smaller home and less restaurants.

I work with several people with kids and I have noticed quite often that they completely disregard any issues of people with no kids and try to one up work life imbalance conversations with stories of them being parents. It must be hard being a parent but I don’t think people at work should be treated differently or given any additional consideration just because they have a kid. You already get parental leave so If I’m expected to work 12hr I ask the same to be expected from my peers with kids.
