What’s more important? Getting into an industry you want to be in long term, at the early stages of your career. Or looking for roles that may be better opportunities at the moment but in a different industry.

ideal world is to combine them both

I'd always take a long term approach to your career. Once your resume shows a track record of a certain type of job, it's going to be difficult to change lanes later on. Set yourself up for success now since you'll only spend a few years as an analyst but multiple decades in the field you end up in

I personally would say roles that build skill sets that will help you get to your desired goal and look good on a resume are best early in your career. Others may have different opinions

Hi everyone!! This is exactly the group I've been looking for. I'll be starting my new (and first) consulting job at ZS Associates at the end of the month and I'm so nervous that I'll crash and burn. I'm very proud to be an ENFP, but the flaws that come along with it (distraction, procrastination, disorganization) seem like a recipe for disaster. I'm not sure if I should spend this next month trying to change my habits or if I should just embrace it. Anyway, what advice do you all have?

Left my first job after just shy of two years because I was bored. Have been at my current job for about half a year and it’s a great resume builder but an absolute horror story (long hours, unreasonable clients, tons of weekend work that’s not worth the pay). If I left in a few months, at the 10 month mark, would that significantly hurt my chances of getting a strong exit opportunity? I can’t imagine staying here for the full year but I don’t want to blow my chances at leaving for a cool job

Any particular segment of sales good for ex-finance? Currently 3 years in at fortune 100 bank on business development side (on commercial loan originations team but no commission/targets at the associate level, basically do credit analysis and build pitch books for the producers) This role has been great as I have gotten both analytical experience and tasted sales experience (I say taste bc I’m not the producer) but would potentially like to transition to a sales role that is less analytical
