Accenture with more dumb questions...
Let’s assume a 20 year career for each. For consulting, let’s say from analyst to managing director. For oil and gas, let’s say from entry level Engineering position, to wherever you end up in 20 years( I do not know the hierarchy). I do know that oil and gas entry level salaries are higher than consulting entry level salaries, but the progression is a lot slower. At the end of 20 years, who has made more?
Where is the O&G industry headed with the emphasis on renewables and sustainability? If you think ‘down,’ that could be your answer
It’s also a very stable job for average performers - do the nearest minimum and you’re good! Which for overachievers is depressing :)
^bearest minimum
I’ve been in consulting 15 years and My SO has been in gas/oil for 18 years and earns more than me
Always choose sheep
I do oil and gas consulting at Accenture. I did it at Deloitte before this. Got an offer from Shell a couple years ago, but would require month long trips to the middle of the Middle East (wouldn’t work with newborn). I plan to stay in consulting then switch when/if a perfect role comes up.
Driving uber is more lucrative
EY 1, how is it a dumb question? Do you know the answer?

Oil and gas
Oil and gas for sure! I worked in the industry - the only downside is the job gets boring. If you end up as an expat in a “difficult to work” environment, you’d be making as much as double your pay with almost all expenses paid - not to mention stock options and loads of family allowances/benefits.
This answers my question. Thank you
Oil and Gas is highly cyclic. 15 years from now this is the industry that is most likely to be completely different from what it is now. Consider these things too.
