What's some of the worst advice you've heard someone give? 🤔

Not necessarily strategy related. But curious as to what other people in here usually aim for when building out a production team/equipment list for social specific content? I am the ops manager of a clothing boutique/retailer and I'm wondering if I should ask for us to hire a content creator or use that salary as a budget for content captures. We have a photographer on staff but he doesn't do much video, editing or vector/graphics and we need to up our vertical video efforts. Thanks!

Any stories of what happened AFTER you had to back out of some work because you were getting overwhelmed with what’s on your plate? I had to tell a partner I couldn’t help him with a training after initially agreeing because I was worn thin between two different deals. I’m fairly new to the firm so am a little concerned this is going to affect me reputationally, but figured it was better than blowing a client-related deadline. Fwiw he was nice about it and his training I think went fine.

A recruiter contacted me for a position I love. She says I’m a good match and will put my resume and cover letter into the “portal”….-What does that mean? Is a portal the same thing as if I applied online myself? I always imagined recruiters have personal relationships with hiring managers. So I was surprised to hear about an online submission portal.

Keep getting approached by rival firms for ~50% salary increases in London. Raised it with my company and got a 5% raise. Don’t want to sound ungrateful but doesn’t scratch the surface of the underpayment of where I am, it’s well below market rates. Manager hinted at getting an offer which they could counter could help but, I can’t see them matching 45-55% I could get elsewhere. Partners, what's something you know now that you wish you knew when you were a Sr. Manager?

If there is a sought after Director for a practice being built up at PwC. Has there ever been a time that a director can go straight to partner if they have an external offer that is quite compelling ?

Basically that offer would be 1st year partner salary and build off that ? Or PwC likes to stick to it's process and only other option is down the road consider direct Admit partner?

I have been offered a position at a non-US B4 with a 2 year path to partner. I know one of the partners at the local firm and have the support of the regional service line lead, and am bringing a specialized skill set they are trying to open a new business around. The KPIs seem achievable and I’ll be in charm school to help build support within that timeline. Most of me thinks a 2 year path under these circumstances realistic but my inner skeptic is jaded. Anything I might have missed?
