What’s something people assume about your role in this industry but isn’t true?

I recently graduated with a degree in Finance but feel like I want to work in a tech related role and wish I would’ve gotten a CS degree. I work at a SaaS company built on Salesforce and was wondering if certifications would be enough to be considered? I’m looking at Business Analyst or Product Mgmt

Why companies have unrealistically high expectations of people knowing and having experience in every damn technologies despite wanting to pay 🥜🥜?
Why don't companies take into consideration that technologies could be learnt even after someone taking up that role?
PS : I am not talking about FAANG and alike companies as they focus on problem solving and Design

I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Hello all! I am an ophthalmic technician in Orlando FL with 10 years of experience across many specialties including refractive surgery, retina and glaucoma. I was a scrub tech for 2 years and I have set up an entire practice from the ground up (entire OR and all diagnostic equipment, hiring and training staff, etc.) I am currently making $25/hour but I feel like with my experience I should be making more. Can anyone share their experience with ophthalmic technician pay rates/ranges? Thank you!

I recently left big 4 to take a private equity role at a large firm. In my offer letter they included a “target bonus rate” which seemed a bit low for the role and firm based on my knowledge of the firm. Wonder if anyone has encountered a clause like this before? My honest impression was that it was written in more like it was a conservative estimate if things are very mediocre performance wise by me and the firm but obviously I don’t want to overset expectations. Has anyone else seen this?

I received a salary increase of 10k because I’ve been promoted to a Sr. Business analyst position. However, I’ve been looking at the market average for the position, and the offer sits very low compared to it (they offer 71K) I’ve been in the company for a year. It is greedy to ask for more? I have a PMP, business analytics certificate from Harvard school online, bachelors degree and 5 YOE. Company is mid size, and we are federal government consultants.

When hired as an athletic coach, does your position state “temporary?” Even if coached at the same school for several years.. It doesn’t make sense to me that coaches are year-to-year. Doesn’t help athletes. Since the CSEA got it approved that classified employees need to go through the same steps as certificated employees, regarding layoffs. LACOE wants to have coaches not be considered classified or certificated, just temporary. With no Union, no voice, no respect, no appreciation, no rights.
