What's stopping you from starting your own company now?

 

I quit my job and started building my own product a month ago. I love what I do, and I feel everyday that this was the right decision. If I could live my life over again, I would go back four years and, instead of getting an MBA degree with $200k and two years, use that money and time to start this earlier.

Does it make sense to move from one business unit to another at same position? What sort of pay raise one usually gets with that kind of move? Currently at B30 (Senior Analyst). Also, will it also affect current year’s rating and bonus? Does one have to serve notice period for an internal move? If yes, then how much?

If end goal is FP&A roles at Large Tech companies, what’s the best path to get there? A year or two in FDD, Val, etc?

In tech is director or VP a higher role?

Apart from research/reviewing questions and answers or going through an interview process. Anyone know if theres a service for help interviewing? I have ideas of what I want to pivot to career wise but I have not interviewed in so long that I’m out of the loop. Thx for your time.

Anyone with a dual MBA/MPH, did you find the degree useful? What job opportunities did it open up for you?

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

How do I negotiate a low ball offer?

My background is in tech transactional. I joined a cybersecurity SaaS startup at the end of last year and now also handle more generalist matters in addition to all things commercial-related. I have a number of books on contracts that I’ve found super helpful over the years (The Tech Contracts Handbook, A Manual of Style for Contract Drafting, Sign Here, etc.). Can anyone recommend books they’ve found helpful for L&E matters, privacy matters, product matters, or marketing/advertising matters?

I just saw what appeared to be a hot yoga class being taken inside an outdoor dining set up at a local restaurant. They had clear tarps covering the side that would normally be “open air” (ie it was fully enclosed) and additional space heaters running.
