I usually spend $1000-1500 for an international trip for 7-10 days
Makes sense. Depending on where in Europe or even like Australia or Asia, that low end could be hard. But makes sense it’s that low if you’re doing hostels/picking the cheapest flight!
On average
- $1500 when I was single
- $2500 as a couple
- $5000 with 2 kids
I just got back from Tulum. Was there for 7 nights and it cost me a little over $2k all in.
I went to Tantra while I was there and spent $800 on bottle service 😅 Other than that we ate nothing but street food but I found Tulum to be expensive.
Just came back from a 10 day trip to Hawaii and spent about $2300pp, car rentals and airbnbs were the real expenses.
Normally though, for week long domestic trips/music festival weekends I try to keep it under $1000, and then under $2500 for 1-2 week international trips.
We did the BI (Kona and Hilo) for 6 days and then Kihei in Maui for 4 days. Personally I’d avoid Maui though, way too touristy, even worse during covid. Doing it again, I would have spent a little more time on the BI to explore more beaches. We only had like 1 true beach day and I would have love to have had more.
SO and I spent 4k per vaca this last year - so 2k pp. - one trip to Mexico and one to Caribbean each about 4nights
Really depends on the location and what you do there! We went to Switzerland for 6 days and did some activities, easily 4k per person, just train tickets itself we spent over 1k per person, shop at grocery store, it made me feel so poor in Switzerland. Went to Italy for 7 days, about 1.5k pet person, all in, eat very well. Columbia for 10 days, 1.2k per person, all in, live like a king....
Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena. I also wanted to do Santa Marta. But not enough time. Didn't want to rush it. Colombia is big, so pick out what you like. There are still a lot that I haven't seen.
Me and my SO average $1k a day with everything.

Did a 3 day pass to Disney World with my SO last week.
Factor in the passes, transportation, lodging, food, and souvenirs we spent about $1,250.

2-3k
2k sounds right. Nothing exotic because of Covid. Next international trip will be more the 5k
$5k for wife and I
I save about 6k for traveling each year…domestic travel is normally 1-2k depending on if I’m traveling solo and international is like 2k…I try to keep my daily spending average to $500 a day
