Damn I know cost of living is higher in NYC than Chicago, but those rates are a lot higher.
It's not only COL but competition too I guess. As a freelancer in NYC there are way more jobs for me to take than in any other city period, and the agencies that can pay more will do so to get the freelancers they want, I guess.
I ask for 1k as a senior. Larger agencies I'll usually say 1k - 1200 and smaller ones I'll say 900-1k. I'd imagine ACD would be 1200-1400 and if you give a range they always use the lower number. The reason I like to give a range is so that if they ask me to come back and I want more I can ask them to get closer to the higher number.
For anything above $800-$1000/day - for how long? A long stint would be more sustainable at a lower rate, with higher $150++ hr for slam dunk shorter term pitch work I suspect. I’m talking pharma, where I guess the rates are lower but the assignments longer...
Rates are lower in pharma? I thought pharma is where I’d make the most. Think again, I guess. GTK
