What’s the best advice for BEC? People say it’s easier but I don’t want to underestimate it. Focus topics are COSO, cost accounting, IT & anything else? I’m scaaaared man

It’s “easy” as in the information isn’t hard to grasp but I still think it’s difficult because of the range of information. It’s like they took all the leftover stuff from your college business classes that didn’t fit into Audit, FAR and Reg and threw it into BEC. So yeah, don’t underestimate it. Time manage very well since you have MC, TBS, and writing component to get through (this advice of course applies to all sections I’d say). Know the pneumonics well and be ready to use formulas in a different way from how you saw them in the book (be prepared to switch around what you’re solving for etc). Good luck!

I have two questions. I have 10 years of experience in multiple sectors and I have been trying to gain a leadership position. I am attempting my PHR this summer but what are some tips in order for me to obtain a leadership position? Also, how long does it take to obtain another position out of state? I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

Currently A at KPMG (<2 YOE) with high certainty of promotion to SA in Sept. Enjoy working with my team, great WLB, and strong network for someone at my level. Current base = 75k with promotion bringing it to 92k minimum.

I have two offers at ~105k base, 15k signing for C and SA roles at other B4 which is a ~50% raise from current base but ~10-15% raise from SA base. Is it worth it to hop this early in my career or should I stick it out for a while to build more experience?

Hi Fishes,

I received an offer (28 Lakhs + 3.9 Lakhs incentive) from Novartis for Sr Project Manager yesterday. This was just 13.6% more than my current earnings as Project Manager. I've given the reasons why I deserve at least 30% to HR. In response to that, HR has sent 2nd offer i.e. 29 Lakhs + 4 Lakhs incentive + 50k sign-on bonus. The 2nd offer is just 18.2% higher than my current earnings. Need your suggestion, if I could still negotiate with HR to finalize deal by asking for 25% hike?
