North - Leander (Travisso, Crystal Falls), Round Rock (Avery ranch, brushy creek), cedar park
South -Circle C, dirty 6th
Wut? Dirty 6th as a recommendation for young families?? Would love to hear the reasoning behind that
I lived in Mueller for years and absolutely loved it. It's a wonderful neighborhood that is extremely walkable, community oriented, full of young families, and full of things to do right in the neighborhood. There's an HEB, Alamo Drafthouse theatre, multiple parks, multiple community swimming pools, restaurants, workout classes, etc. I believe there are also schools being built right in the neighborhood. Worth checking out for sure.
Downside is the schools are pretty awful. I have two teacher friends who live in that neighborhood and they don't even send their kids to the neighborhood schools
I love NW Hills (Mopac & Far West Blvd). Several childcare places if your kids haven't started school. Doss Elementary, Murchison MS, and Anderson HS are all excellent schools. Community pool, HEB, CVS, post office all in the neighborhood, with some good restaurants (Bartletts, Hop Doddy, Madam Mam's) and a movie theater across Mopac off of Anderson Lane. Generally low crime, quiet, and safe. Removed enough from downtown to feel like suburban living, but close enough to all of the fun stuff. I've lived in ATX for over 20 years and most of that time in that neighborhood; only moved because I was priced out, which I'm still sad about 5 years later.
“Only moved because I was priced out” welcome to new austin yall
Depends on what your budget is for either renting or buying….

As someone who was a kid in austin, all you really want is the ability for your kid to ride his/her bike around the neighborhood, a neighborhood pool/park, elementary inside the neighborhood (nice to have)... that's it from a former austin kids perspective haha
I live in crestview and I love it. Great community feel, good schools, still feels like you’re in the fort and can get around easily.
