Idk if it’s the best, but I’ve had no issues with the Abbott at home covid tests. Instructions are very clear and it’s pretty easy to use

Agreed Abbott worked for me. Will say that my first test seemed a bit unreliable by them but also might not have been contagious, used an Abbott test the day after and confirmed positive. Not a healthcare person so I think that was more so the contagion time as opposed to reliability.

I think this is on the CDC site, but the home test, which are antigen tests have been very accurate for most variants, but they are saying that omicron is getting more false negatives early in the infection compared to the other variants. The lab based PCR tests are able to pick up omicron early. All they have said is to do multiple at home tests over 2-3 days, which I don't find particularly helpful. Just know that omicron seems to take more viral load to show up
