Bain & Company What is the likelihood of making SAC in September 2022 if I join as an AC on April 18th at Bain & Company? I am a senior consultant at EY with 3.5 years of experience in Data Analytics. Or is March 2023 more realistic? They told me 6 months for promotion but it seems like the two promotion cycles with my different start dates give me 4 or 9 months of experience, nothing in between. I’ll be joining in the private equity group which will be new for me.
Hello,
Last Wednesday I was able to get a Deloitte job referral, I applied the next day. Yesterday I signed in to my account and it shows that I applied for the job but when I click on the link it show me an error page. I searched for the job on the website itself and it disappeared. There were like multiple positions but different locations, now they’re all expired. What does this mean? Did they choose a candidate already? It’s weird it never happened to me before
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻
Bain & Company Can any Bain & Company fish provide insight on Bain's expense policy? When WFH, at client site (outside of based city) and when working with local client...
It would also be helpful to provide insight on travel policy - first class in which flights, always 5-star hotels? Etc.
Thank you!
McKinsey & Company Bain & Company How is MBB's Human Capital Consulting practice? I also have an offer as FAANG Product Manager in the same city with similar compensation. I have 7YOE in risk management at an industry specific (tech) boutique investment bank.

McKinsey has the strongest network
Fortunately or unfortunately, our alumni network is the largest by far and the best maintained:
+ Our offices globally have a commitment to maintain our alumni networks through independent outreach initiatives and events
+ Our size means it’s easier for us to build a network
+ we have a very live and let live policy to people leaving - we help people land on their feet and thus our alumni are very likely to have positive emotions towards the Firm
How you treat someone on the way out is as important as how you treat them on the way in. It’s one of the reasons McK is as successful as they are. I’m not a current or ex McK’er but given how I’ve seen other firms treat people, this is critical. You never know where someone will end up down the line.
We also have an early stage tech investment fund that is connected to lots of folks (incl Mck alum) in investment / VC community.
Fuel is regular client service but for startup / early stage ecosystem. This is McKinsey Launch
@OP, feels like you’re looking in the wrong place. Big bucks, travel, and network are equally solid across all three. But how does that help you launch your tech startup (beyond the network, which even then is a stretch)?
Sure if you want to learn robust business fundamentals and get exposed to different kinds of projects and challenges, great. And having it on your resume is even better than Big D.
But don’t come here looking for technical talent or the right mix of people to get you there. That’s not what MBB will ever be good at. For that you should be in some tech hub of a major city, hustling your ass to build real tech cred. That’s not happening here.
Will keep this in mind, thanks!
Disagree big bucks and travel are equal. BCG’s travel policy significantly better than ours:
- You get biz class flights >1 hr (?) and ours is 3.5 hrs.
- When you fly to a different city than your home city, the tax benefit is covered by BCG, and ours isn’t - so we have to pay eqv 30% of the flight
- Your policy of flying to a different city is spending less than if you go home, as you’re flying biz class everywhere it’s easy for you to fly economy and likely cover cost of the hotel, we have no hotel included as part of our policy.
Our network is double though for your third objective.
The travel policy at BCG is strongly country-dependent, I have to add
By strong network I mean really smart and passionate software engineers, mba professionals, tech savvy wall st types that can help with my ipo one day, etc
