This is the answer.

BAH probably

Booz, unless you can get into a legitimate tech company (which will pay around 40% more but likely work you harder).

A1 - Thank you.

Yes, I have a deep technical background, but no longer technical. Consulting took that away. Lol. I also do not work on anything technical, but understanding will help in communicating with developers.

Yes, there are a lot of openings. Most of the openings tagged “Manager” are not tech postings. Microsoft is casting a wide net to see what it catches, so ignore the job requirements and just apply. As I said earlier we are like a startup in the .gov sector, so we are just looking for resources.

A lot of managers do not have a defined role, unless it has been established as someone is better suited for something.

There was zero technical ask during my interview, and I am not joking when I say I had to prepare for it, meaning I had to invest into understanding how Microsoft works, what they look for etc. Also, I had no referral, but I read “cracking the PM interview”

Good luck.

And the last time he spoke to his parents about it apparently there’s been some mix ups and so they need to sort thru what’s his etc. (CONT’d in comments)

Got an offer with a 35% bump doing similar work and with the option with some remote (usually work in the office full time). Commute is a tad longer and its a small, young firm. I’ve always worked for the big guys — Deloitte, ACN. I guess the worry is the unknown of a small firm with only a handful of contracts. Granted I do hold a TS/SCI w/ poly, so if it goes bust I should be fine job security wise. Go for it?

I feel ho-hum about the government job because I’ve been doing it for so long, and also the option for hybrid work is uncertain. But the salary and benefits are obviously appealing.
