Do not live in SF
Sure, if you want to be surrounded by an unclean but expensive city, with dead energy levels, then be my guest
Chicago. All/more amenities than any of those except NYC and cheaper than most of those to live in the heart of the city. Been here 8.5 years and love it.
28 years in SoCal before Chicago, 10 of those in LA.
D1 - plenty of all that in Illinois but without the elevation. I miss the Sierras far more than I miss the beach.
Those are all wildly different places. What do you want in a city? What would excite you to live there? All of those cities have big job markets but nuance to what you find in them. They also have very different vibes and different levels of access to things like hiking, mountains, etc.
I'm gonna say consider Chicago. It's all the best parts of NY, none of the trash.
Chicago, Austin, Nashville (not sure if this counts as major)
I would say DC
SF, if you know people. And proper SF, not the rest of the Bay Area lol
I love SF. I live in Nob Hill. Don’t @ me
What are you looking for personally and professionally? As others intimated, these cities vary and the people you will meet will be different.
