What’s the best trading/investment platform for someone who buys mostly ETFs and mutual funds, long term (10-15 trades a year), and has >$100k invested?
Currently with MS, looking to save on trades.

Robinhood

My take is that these 3 are not exactly comparable.

Vanguard is your go to broker for low cost funds. If cheap well diversified funds are your mainstay then vanguard is the best choice

Robinhood is for commission free ETFs ( & stocks) they don’t offer mutual funds. I haven’t exactly compared cost of robinhood etf with vanguard funds, but shouldn’t be very different.

E-Trade is what I like to consider a full service broker, typically high commission cost but good research and trading tools.

May be a mix of vanguard and robinhood will serve your needs.

Or Charles schwabb, lot of cheap commission free etf and funds and also services of a full service broker. If you commit >50k you can get brokerage waived off.

Look into vanguard as well. I generalized too much, it’s not like vanguard does not offer etf and Stock trading. Their strength though is funds.

Don’t know about tax. Curious though what services did MS offer you. Never took them as a retail brokerage firm

Vanguard vs Robin Hood vs eTrade?

Cool, thanks for the overview. I’d like to have the flexibility to buy funds and I also like to have all in one account. So maybe Charles Schwabb is worth a look then.
Are all of them good in making taxes painless?

It was through their wealth management group. It’s a decent platform and app to do trades and see market data. But very expensive fees.

Any of the big brokerages will be similar: e-trade. Schwab, td Ameritrade, and fidelity. I think they all have similar commissions (~$5 per trade) and will offer a list of free etfs and funds. Check out the free lists and see if the funds you want are included

Fidelity. All day twice on Sunday

I second Schwab

Schwab has checking account option too with reimbursable ATM fees. Not that I use it more than a few times a year but it’s nice to not care what ATM I use when I’m in a pinch.

Stay or Go: American Funds?

I have allocations in ANWPX, AWSHX, AGTHX. With high expense ratios and front load costs, I don’t see why I should stay with them. Im on the verge of rolling over my Roth IRA to vanguard. But I can’t quite understand why people, even in this bowl, continue to invest with them. Any staunch American Fund advocates out there? What’s an appeal to stay?
