What’s the best way to have a lack of compensation and incentive conversation in your department? I went above and beyond for years doing extra work, organizations etc and nothing has been reflected in pay. I thought my 5 year was going to finally show something but it did not. I’ve inquired about pay but it’s gotten nowhere.

The absolute best way is to start applying at other companies.

I agree with VP1 unfortunately, the only way you get leverage is by showing up with another offer. Otherwise they have no reason to change anything

Unless you absolutely love your job or there are extenuating circumstances you should leave, do you really want to have a tough conversation every time it comes to raises?

like

Honestly, get another offer. That's the quickest and most effective way to bring your salary up to or at least close to where it should be. That said, it sounds like your current employer is blatantly and purposely undervaluing you. I'd probably do more than just shop for other offers. I'd take one and get the heck out of their. But that's just me.

How about getting a promotion? This would be faster than asking for a raise. If you can compile all your performance reviews and achievements, that would be great. Or start applying somewhere else if promotion is not an option.

I currently work at Deloitte. How bad would it look if I negotiated a comp adjustment (underpaid relative to lower performing peers through the same intake process by 10%; not using an external offer to negotiate here), received it, and then left? Want to hedge my bets in case I can’t get an exit opportunity but don’t want to burn bridges (want to leave open the possibility of boomeranging) which I’m afraid this path might do.

Can someone make a good argument for leasing over buying a car later this year? Married with one baby, HCOL city, have emergency fund covered, combined income of ~$260k. Would spend ~$30k on pre-owned car. Don’t have a ton of expendable income bc also looking to have a postponed wedding in 2022. Monthly expenses without car = ~$11k/month (student loans, rent, daycare, food, etc). Current take home pay = ~$12k/month (TC; includes annual bonus).
Thoughts? If more info is needed, ask away.
TIA.

Need suggestions on how to make zero tax with all possible deductions for the salary mentioned below.

CTC - 20lpa (18fixed + 2variable)

1. Standard PF deduction by company for 10k
2. Home loan co-applicant along with father for 10k (property is with father's name)

Currently staying at home. Will be moving to work location from Jan.

No other deductions or investments.

Highly Appreciate for the suggestions on what to invest and how.

Hi Fishes,

I will be joining @Infosys consulting within a month. The CTC offered to me has a superannuation component attached to it and it is significant. The recruiter however mentioned that it is possible to reduce the amount of superannuation component from retiral section and add it to the in-hand part. If anyone has recently gone through the process, could you please guide me?@

Anyone feel like they regret being in consulting? I’m a serious introvert who wishes instead of going to school for business, I did something more technical and ended up as a developer. It could be isolation making things worse, but I’ve come to realize I really hate talking/facilitating due to social anxiety lol. But I feel it’s too late to do anything about it (I’m 27).

Hi Fishes,
It’s my first switch & LWD is 4th April. Got offer from
Accenture on 31st March & was expecting joining date to be near but in the offer letter it’s 25th April. I was thinking of a break but since I’ve taken nearly 300% hike, I’m little afraid to be dependent on just 1 offer as by 25th April, all similar offers would be void. Can I take the risk of waiting till 25th April & be 110% sure that there won’t be any problems while onboarding or shall I prepone the joining date to be safe?
