Replace "Today will be part PTO and part-work" with "there may be slight delays in my response" and you're good to go

like

"Don't spam me with your OOO".. you sound awful to work with

like

Send an all day appointment to your team (tag it as 'free' with no reminder) that explains the situation. Don't spam me with OOO.

like

Does your team know where you are? Will you reply to your client today if they were to email? Then just say "I'm OOO today with limited access to email, please expect a delay in my responses. If this matter is urgent reach out to XYZ"

like

Wtf is part "PTO and part work"? Do what ACN said and let them know you're taking a sick day and will be offline.

D1- was it really necessary to insult a sick person?

So, thanks everyone for your helpful suggestions. I have a role in which I am constantly emailing with about 12 different parts of the company and a range of people who are outside of the company, which is why the standard calendar invite doesn't really do the trick and why most people with whom I work put up and OOO whenever they are out of pocket for a few hours. I've never actually formally taken a sick day bc I am always too afraid to use those words. Whenever I use the words "PTO," I usually don't respond to emails in order to set a boundary, however, I feel like I need to rest and then work while I can today. I didn't want to break the precedent of replying to emails while on PTO, but also wanted to create a buffer for myself.

like

Sounds like you're sick and need to take a sick day...... "I'm out of office due to illness today and will reply to your email as soon as I can tomorrow"

like

Take the whole damn day off as OOO and answer critical emails if needed

OP - I was referring to the comment made by ACN1

Thanks for the clarification. I'd write more, but I am 😴🤒

I am in the process of transferring internally to EYP, but received an offer from a small/boutique financial consulting firm with a 30% bump in base comp (and a significant bonus at year end). I am extremely conflicted.

Had an employee request a standing desk due to back problems. went through the ADA process & the employee obtained a doctor's note to support their request. However, the note was questionable. it was from an acupuncturist, on a word doc, no real signature and just said that a standing desk would prevent pain & improve their productivity, nothing about him not being able to work without it. Thoughts? Also, what do you think about having certifications from non-traditional doctors?

Has anyone ever disclosed a mental health diagnosis to their firm? I have ADHD and have never told my firm because it was never relevant. Any advice?

Decision - I was out the door of my nationwide ins dfense firm. Was going to top local firm with a lot more clout where everything would be private pay and I’d be more on bigger exposure cases. However, my firm outmatched the new firm, made a much better bonus structure, and said I could do more work with their complex bus lit group. I’d still likely do about 50 percent ins defense but I really like the partners I work for, and I handle own cases/take depos, and get autonomy. Am I right to stay?
