Discipline. Discipline is the only way to be successful and the only key you need to open every door in life

like

I'd like to second this. Although I may have some gripes with my time in the army, I cannot overstate the value I have gotten out of adopting the discipline mentality. You can apply it to all areas of life

Life is very short and we must enjoy every second of it. We must put our hearts in what we do because although many people do not notice it, we do it to improve the lives of many people.

smart

How to be less selfish. Being held accountable for my mistakes and having my actions affect the rest of the my squad forced me to grow up as a person

Thanks to the army I have learned to discern, people, decisions, and everything. I feel that everything is thanks to the effort that is made within the ranks of the army to not only become a soldier, but also a good person.

When you move, move with a purpose because time waits for no one.

Your superior tells you to do something, you do it. No questions, no dragging your feet, no whining about it either. Everything has a chain of command and you can't break it for anything.

It's not all about you: there are greater purposes behind everything we do, and it's all for the common good. Being a renegade and doing your own thing might look good in the movies but no way in hell would that work in real life.

You have to keep your game face on even when you feel like you're a moment away from your breaking point. If you don't, it's not just yourself you're putting at risk. Other guys are always watching you. Maybe you couldn't do something if it were just for yourself, but if you keep in mind that you'd be letting your company down if you failed, people are capable of growing far beyond the limits we allow ourselves to create.

It's not possible to do anything on your own, and there are no "self-made" people; we're all here because of the sacrifices our ancestors made. And they were extreme. Helps me keep things in perspective whenever I'm worried about making the mortgage payment or whatever other personal issue I'm having. Because the fact of the matter is that I do have a home to live in, and this isn't something to take lightly.

Aww, bummed to see this is a dead bowl. Anyone still around?? Getting ready for our first internal off-site and I haven't seen the rest of my team in person for almost 3 years now. I'm more nervous about the new folks that I have only met via Teams, including my 1st-ever direct report. I feel fine in my own skin most of the time but when I am in new and unfamiliar situations I get crazy body dysmorphia and super concious of my physicality. Any ideas on what I can I do to temper those feelings?

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.

1YOE medical device NPI Lead looking for salary perspective

Mechanical engineering grad, joined a medical device startup that I had done co-ops at. 8mo into full-time, pivoted from engineering into more of an operations role doing new product introduction (NPI), now with 3 direct reports.

The combination of startup+medical device+NPI seems very unique and I'm struggling to find salary comparables. Currently making 75k but it feels very low given my new responsibility and impact. Any advice?
