Hello folks, I joined Harman on 3rd Oct with a total ctc of 27lpa but I got a higher total ctc of 29.5lpa on Monday. I asked the Harman hr to reconsider & revise my ctc & either match it or provide a JB. Hr told me that she sent my case for a JB request but it has been denied it seems. I told her that I want to speak to her manager & request to reconsider either my ctc or provide me with a JB. Please advise on how do I proceed on this request. Any suggestions would be helpful. TIA.

Thoughts on Massumi + Consoli?
From $250k to $675k in three years.
I originated a matter with seven figures in billables. I suspect most firms would give a healthy origination bonus for that.
First job: 70k, second job: 150k, third job: 230k

$700k bump in 1 year. Came as a junior partner. Combination of share value appreciation and more shares. You can do even better as a lateral partner or as a more senior partner (just through share value appreciation on more shares). This is why I tell associates: If you have any interest in being a partner, seriously don’t focus on associate compensation at all. Focus on the right firm fit. Associate compensation is nickels compared to the long game of finding the right fit and making partner (if that’s what you want to do, which it is totally reasonable not to chase that poisoned carrot).
What’s your total comp? Also, is this based on 2021 because that’s skewed.
$120k —> $200k —> cravath scale ($295k in Jan)
Probably not a unique story in the past couple years as so many folks jumped from small to big law, but I’m proud of it.
I started at a small boutique in a secondary market, switched to a slightly larger firm in a large market (remote), and then jumped to Big Law. No real secret except being persistent in applying.
Prior to the first firm I was at $95k working in a non-attorney role in 2019.
150K OCI offer. 215K by the time I started. Pretty great if you ask me 😂
I just bumped up by $75000 by lateraling. Last year I went from $190k to $270k by having a big year (2400 hours).
Stock options, went from 220K to near 7 figures last year from a prior job.
Now a 6th year.
Spent my first year at 100k TC in midlaw then jumped to market paying biglaw
Jumped from state govt job at $45k to a market paying biglaw job (came in at $190k), now a 5th year.
Started out as contract attorney full time at $120k, then full time in house for $75, grew to $95k in 4 years, then jumped to another company for $150k, then jumped to another company for &190k, no other comp though…
