Here is the grid, now this is in the employee channel. Independent is completely different. As you can see I fall on the 325-350 production and get paid out at 36%. We get a 5% match on 401k and all our other benefits.

Aside from the tax treatment of your pay, what is the difference- meaning why would somebody opt to be an employee versus independent? Do the independent folks not get benefits?

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

Have a primary home and a vacation home. We go to vacation home for holidays as family is near by but it is a 2 day drive to get there or a plane ride. With our pups driving has become more of the norm. We do not rent when we are not there. Thinking of buying third home about 4 hours from primary home on the coast for enjoyment. I worry about juggling 3 homes. Anyone with experience with this? Advice?

Does anyone put money in VAs for a business client? What are the PROS/CONS/DIFFERENCES? Scenario: 5 doctors want principle protection first and growth of principle second. Each doctor is 20% vested. I already have the potential company/product with no surrender period so I don’t need referrals but I’m thinking there will be at least one person who only reads part of this post and referred me anyway. :-( TIA

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.
