What’s the culture of the Deloitte investment management tax group in NY?

My wife got the H4 EAD last year but she isn’t interested in Corporate work anymore because of the long gap. She is a great cook specializing in South Indian and Middle Eastern as she mostly grew up in UAE. She wants to do something in the line of food business but I don’t have any clue. I might start a restaurant when I get the green card but that is far far away. Any ideas for the time being?

What criteria do you use to define a good client?

My organization has told that I need to come back into the office full time after I have been WFH (without issue) since last March. I have a 6 month old baby at home, and my bubble consists only of the people I live with. We don’t do anything, go anywhere unless absolutely essential, etc. my job is such that first responders are in and out of the office and the work building all the time, and plenty of them have caught (and passed on) covid to other individuals. Am I being overly dramatic-cont.

Interviewing for TSE role at Google Canada. Just got an email from recruiter that I have been passed to final stage which is Internal Review phase. And also asked my compensation expectations and joining date. Does this usually mean a positive result? What are the chances of offer being extended?

Posted elsewhere and interested in broader thoughts. My feeds are flooded with graduation and prom pictures. I love seeing my friends kids grow up. I am surprised how non-diverse the groups are. I thought the next generation would be more diverse than mine.

Took my first vacation today through tomorrow and my boss has called, texted, and emailed about several different matters throughout the day, most not at all urgent. I know it’s a thing in the law world for vacation days to not be respected but my firm prides itself on work life balance and my boss generally is respectful of family time and boundaries. He approved my vacation days and said it actually worked well for his schedule. Frustrated because it’s really interfering with my time off. 😒
