I don’t work there anymore but the culture was my favorite thing about it. My team was wildly diverse, the benefits are amazing and the work life balance was incredible. I was there during the pandemic with kids and felt very supported.
I also didn’t have a great manager but from what I’ve heard that situation has improved.
This is so great to hear. I just passed my full interview loop and really enjoyed my conversations with HMs. Recruiter told me an offer is coming in today.
Thanks everyone!! After some negotiations, I accepted the offer - start date early May. 😊
I love it. The team I work on (marketing) is extremely supportive and welcoming. I have amazing managers and teammates and they put a lot of effort into living by our values and making us feel included in how we decide to do that.
I’m a month in and it’s honestly great. WLB is solid, trainings are actually useful, staff are able to hold leadership accountable, etc. I came from Consulting and am enjoying it so much more.
Not to rain on the parade of praise but I’ve been here 9 months and have had a tough time. Everyone is friendly and nice and do their best to be supportive. That isn’t a problem which is great. However the culture of social media bleeds in I feel to how performance is viewed. It feels like everyone is just doing stuff to be seen. I got feedback in my performance review I didn’t post enough and it was my first like 4 months. It’s been tough for me to really align with the definitions of success. I decided to leave and have started working towards new roles. I’ve been at Google before and I do prefer the culture there at least from that perspective. The thing FB does better though is everyone’s openness and ability to be vulnerable. Which I also think is related to it being a social media company. So personal culture is good. Professional culture for me is a struggle

Me realizing I haven’t posted anything since I joined. RIP PSC 2022
Honestly couldn’t be more complementary! Love it here :)
+1 to everyone’s sentiments.
I’ve worked at Google, Twitter and Facebook and Facebook has the best balance between the right kind of culture and benefits. Things are changing as the company grows but it works well I think and is a really nice place to work (of course with any company, also largely team/ department dependent)
Thank you for sharing!!
Best place I ever worked. The benefits are amazing, but it’s the humble, talented people that make it special.
To everyone who's chiming in, what is your position? I'm interested in this answer from the software engineering POV 🙂
I’m in public policy, in the US
I have a buddy on the network engineering team who loves it. Seems to have great WLB and is happy with the work he does.
This has been super helpful insight. I’ve been hesitant to accept ongoing Meta recruitment outreach emails after a terrible experience with them late 2020. The WLB combined with great benefits would really make a difference compared to where I am now. Plus, competitive pay.
I’m joining in a couple of weeks and reading these comments validates that I made the right decision!
What are people’s thoughts on the impact and performance focused culture? I’ve heard some folks say that it makes for a stressful and cut throat environment at times.
Thanks for chiming in! I’m all for working hard and delivering impact, as long as there’s a balance and people are friendly to work with. It sounds like that’s the case.
Like any large tech company, there's pockets of bad. Sometimes it's bad because the manager is bad. Other times it's bad because the employee/manager are on different "wavelengths". But in general, they're good/great from my friends/acquaintances who work there.
How does it compare to Amazon / AWS?
I have not worked for Meta or FB. But maybe good for you to look what the leadership is like. Worth a watch from 20.20.
