The acronym? I think that’s pretty much it.

ESSA allows states to test areas that they think are best for their students. Also, it strips mandates from testing that states have to meet 100% proficiency by a certain dates. Furthermore, it allows states to set their own targets instead of the federal government setting target levels. Finally, ESSA allows for more data points when scoring a school, where as NCLB usually focused on ELA/Reading and Math.

Silly question- but how do you work from home? I could do it in small amounts and with small projects with simple things. But I can’t do any type of excel work or testing on my small laptop. I’m thinking about setting up an office for two screens and a standing desk. Would work reimburse that? (If they are primarily WFH)

I am debating doing a solo trip (no idea to where) but I’ve never done one before. I’m scared it’ll be super lonely and I’m not sure how dining alone would be. I am also worried about safety (I’m a woman in my early 30s). Most of my friends are married with kids and I’m single so hard to plan a trip with friends, this the solo trip idea. Any tips / thoughts? Budget isn’t really an issue.

Student Recognized me while bagging my Groceries: Saw a former student (Didn't recognize initially) today at the grocery store who was working and asked me if I was in fact his former teacher. He said he didn't remember my name but remembered my personal interest of cars and motorcycles. Has anyone else run into former students from several years ago this Holiday season and have them view your class as positive enough to strike up a conversation even if they did forget your name? :)

My high school will be moving to a 4 by 4 block schedule next year, and our middle school is currently on a 7 period day. The schools are on the same campus so there is a lot of teacher overlap which is the main issue. Middle school state tests are only administered in May, so there’s no way for our middle school to also shift to the block. What alternate schedules does your middle school use? What solution do you see to the problem?

I am fed up with parents not making appointments for conferences and just showing up. Parents have communication from me by paper and electronically. This is unprofessional. I can’t just show up at my doctor’s office and expect to see her.
