Just killing time and cashing checks while I finish my novel.

Start my own 1-5 person consultancy
I think eventually I want to go client side/grow into a CMO role. I’m three years in on the agency side, one year into the strategy discipline. I want a few more years under my belt before I start to transition client side.
Market research is also a path.
Being a CMO sucks. That’s why. There’s a reason the average tenure is 18 months.
At this point, CSO or equivalent head strategy role at an agency is my eventual goal. Becoming an independent consultant is a route many go as well.
How does independent strategy consultant work? Can you give an example of one?
@ASD1 why do you want to start a consultancy after being in the agency world for so many years? How is it going to be any different from what everyone else is doing?
I’m surprised no one wants to become Chief Brand Officer or CMO client side
What are the client side counter part? Brand management seems closer to account role
@SD1: depends on the brand. I’ve been at this for a decade or so and am very ready to transition to a brand. Currently looking at some video game companies to help lead up their own internal creative shops. From my experience the leads they are looking for is someone who gets marketing but is creatively minded and another someone who is a great creative leader. And let’s be honest, most big video game brands are far more creative than most shops.
But yes. Hell no for Unilever, P&G or any of those places.
