OP - can I move with you? I speak fluent British
Pwc1 is right. I worked in London and made literally half dollar to pound. I would still argue the quality of life there was better since it was personally more enriching experience. I saw and learnt so much. I could go to Paris over the weekend while here I take the same time to go to south bay from SF city!
Professionally it wasn’t as great but if I had an option, I would definitely consider raising a family in London.
What city do you currently live in or region?
NJ
Couple of years ago The Economist came out with a city wise comparison like this with NYC as the base. Don't know if they keep it current but could be worth checking out.
Thanks PWC1 - that’s the reason I want to know what would be the equivalent of my salary here so that I can negotiate/decide intelligently
So would £110k be considered excellent salary in London?
Might just be helpful to know which city you’d like to compare to
London is approximately 16% more expensive than Jersey City (sourced from Expatistan)
UK salary is about 30k less than US
And if you’re looking to move there and stay with your firm, expect a SIGNIFICANT pay cut
Thanks D1
I was looking to move to London earlier this year but decided against it. I’m an SA at $101k, and received a $10k bonus this year. SAs in London are at about £50k, and bonuses are almost nonexistent. Decided it wasn’t the best career move for me
If you’re single, hell yeah.
Thanks a lot M1!
I went from $215 to £150 went I moved there 2 years ago
If your MBB salary will be the same or Tier 2. Try upgrade your job
Look at the salary distribution of the population. Graduates are looking at £30s and they flatshare.
I know we are talking about London here, but a similar question about Toronto - how can one compare moving there from the West coast as M1?
