Mckinsey 🐟, Is it possible to get through the first round of interview Mckinsey if you bomb one case but do well in both PEI and the other case?
Any advice on how to get into the sales side of Investment Banking? I have above average experience, have a finance background degree but keep failing the initial application stages (before the interview stages) and then watch people on LinkedIn with less experience get roles with top banks. I understand that I need to figure out how to get past the application tracking systems but it can be really frustrating at times and advice online is often very generic (I.e. tell them about yourself).
Tie or no tie for video interview?
What is the best interview slot to request when a company is interviewing multiple people across two days?
Excluding the depression/recession we’re currently in, how many applications do you typically send out before getting an interview? I’m at 47 right now with no interviews and I’m beginning to lose my patience
How do Big 4 Experienced Hire interviews differ from fresh graduate interviews? Hoping to transition from a boutique firm I joined after college to the Big 4. Interviewed with MBB during school, however, not sure what to expect as an Experienced Hire. YOE 4, Midwest LCOL. Reason: great pay and WLB, but, not challenged and little upwards trajectory.
Advice needed! I was laid off in Jan and since then I’ve been building my own practice (which I started last year and was doing on the side). Since Covid happened, work has been a lot slower so I started applying for jobs. I got two job offers in these past couple weeks, but the problem is that neither is in the area I want to practice, though the experience from one of them would be probably useful in the future. Ultimately I want to have my own practice, but my dilemma is that as a 3rd (cont.)
Great I had a panic attack during an interview. At least it was over the phone and I could fake a cough to give me time to recover. Wtf universe.
When you express an interest in a Credit Fund to a recruiter, will you fall under the PE or HF interview path?
🐠 fam - how’s FAANG sr prod manager screening different than consulting manager role with MBB? Anything out of the usual? Have an interview coming up soon and help will be great!
Any tips and tricks on PE interview model exams? Concepts and structure is there, but what strategies can you employ to be as efficient as possible when building under the tight timelines?
I have an interview coming up with someone whose name I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce. Should I make my best guess and ask if I pronounced it correctly? Or avoid trying to say it at all?
I'm looking to pivot from consulting into tech. I've gotten lots of interesting from tech companies on the ops side but am much more interested in product management. Any advice on books or courses to help make the transition? I'm struggling to land PM interviews at companies that aren't tiny startups :(
Getting far along in the interview process.. kind of starting to get cold feet. Anyone been in the same spot (current job is not exciting anymore but fear of the unknown giving you second thoughts)?
Is it better to wait until promo before switching to other firms? Applying to MBB but worried that if I get the offer I’ll end up switching right before I get my promo from Deloitte. I would likely reset to entry level at MBB either way but the pay would be a substantial bump from my current pay (even after promo). I’m in my second year at Deloitte out of undergrad.
Help: The 2 interviews in this round are a week apart, I just had the 2nd interview and realized I didn’t send a thank you note to the 1st interviewer… is it better to only send to 2nd interviewer or send a one-week late thank you note to 1st interviewer?
Not proud of it, but I was hooking up with a co-worker/friend pre-COVID. I left the state when wfh started and we still talk every day, but nothing romantic. He made it clear at the beginning that he didn’t want to date because we’re co-workers. Stung a bit when I went on a dating app this morning and saw his profile. The rational part of me knows we’re only ever going to be buddies and that if he actually wanted me, then he’d make something happen. Looking for advice on how to get over this.
Currently working on plan C of a honeymoon as we don’t expect to be able to go Europe in June/July as hoped. Plan A and B were variations of Italy (relax) and Spain (mountain biking). Hoping to use bonvoy points. Any US centered suggestions? Maybe refocusing on golf/warmth/spa/food now.
I’m trying very hard to break into tech within marketing sector. Can anyone help and direct me to the right next steps? I started finishing up couple books about product, and applying to jobs for a year now
Dear 🐟 My I94 has expired and the current firm has applied for an h1b extension. But it is still pending as it was done in regular processing. I have a receipt from USCIS. I have an offer from another company, would they be able to file for an h1b transfer at this point? Would they also apply for an extension at the same time? Worried as I don't have a valid I94 and am staying in US on borrowed time with a USCIS receipt only
Can anyone tell me about Deloitte’s DCE departmental culture? I am interviewing with them so any insight is appreciate...
Moms.. anyone have a mother’s helper with you at home during after school hours for a few hours so you can work while they watch your kids and help with housework? What’s the going rate (DMV area)?
Time for a come to Jesus moment... Think about this from a timeline perspective Which B is which in MBB? It's time we do a double click into this What's harder to get into than Harvard? WWG1WGA, but let's not boil the ocean Q
People who left Deloitte - do you have to roll over your 401k? Can I leave my money in Vanguard without rolling to an IRA?
Hi everyone. I’m looking for new work actually. Currently working but I’m looking for more opportunities as my current role is a contract one. My experience lies within data science, data analysis, public health analysis, consulting, financial reporting, analysis & planning and project management. I’d appreciate if anyone could connect with me or help me out 🙂
First time switching into a new role into an established team at the company I accepted an offer from. A bit nervous on getting up to speed. Any advice?
Staffed on a project: Sushi everyday! On the beach: Cereal and PB&J sandwiches everyday!
Section chair sent me a job offer. Before I accept, he lowers it because apparently he lacked the authority to offer me that much and had gotten overruled by someone higher up the chain. What the heck
I have a standing offer with Accenture (AFS). Due to coronavirus, the recruiter told me they are pausing staffing of external people like myself while they take care of internal people on the bench. My recruiter said he would touch base monthly during covid, but usually I’m the one to reach out to him. We haven’t spoken since mid March, so should I reach out? I totally understand if they’re still in the same position as before and nothing changed since mid March in terms of hiring.
Does anyone else find it difficult to ask for time off? I haven’t taken a “vacation day” since February, billed 185+ hour months consistently through the pandemic (exceeded hours for 2020 bonus eligibility), and am feeling pretty burnt out. It’s hard because other associates in my department haven’t really taken any time off either (or it has been a day or two sporadically). Would really love to take some days over Christmas to recharge but I’m nervous about perception.
I passed my CPA exams, waiting for my license now, will take about 4-5 months. Should I look for a new job now or wait for my license, aiming for B4 audit senior.
What would you say is the shortest acceptable (wouldn’t raise questions) tenure in tech?
