What’s the going rate for a full time nanny (who does not live in) in the NYC metro area? We’re on Long Island and have a 4 month old.

I heard getting an au pair is cheaper. The only constraint is that you need an extra room for the au pair.

I'd bet you'd have to pay a nanny at least $150-$200 a day in Long Island. Will you be gone all 8 hours of the day? Check and see what colleagues do about care for their newborns.

I pay $30/hour on Long Island for part time help (half days) but who we have is excellent and worth every dollar - might be able to get a slightly better deal if I had someone not as good but I voluntarily took her from $27 to $30 bc of inflation and want to keep her.

Any of you manage WFH / telecommute more than 50% of the time? When I was an associate, you hardly saw the principal/owner. Now that I’m 7 months into partnership, I just started a set up for WFH myself. It’s basic right now, but once fully set up, I don’t see a need to go to the office other than client meetings. But in this area of law, even in a pandemic, people love to just stop by. So that’s one of my concerns if I transition to WFH.

So i interviewed with a company recently and i thought it was the best interview i ever had. I was told not to worry if i don’t hear back from them for a little bit due to the thanksgiving break since they had off all last week. Last interview was on the 14th with the woman who would be my boss. They have reposted the job twice. Once after the interview and 15 hours ago. Anyone have thoughts on this? Any theories they’d like to share?
