$5k and I clear all bills the same cycle. 0 misses for years now
$35k after college. It was rough. Was eating me alive. Took years to pay it off. I was a Manager.
Focus. Eliminate everything you don’t need. Make some sacrifices for 3-6 months. You can do it!
Took out a new CC with 0% APR over 15 months and promptly put 15k on it. Paid off before the promotional APR expired
Was prior to the home loan bubble burst. Loaners were a little more risky then. I never asked if he made any points on the transactions. Always assumed the 0% transfer on the loan was the benefit. I’ll have to ask!
$77k and am having a panic attack reading this thread 😅
C1, actually its just a bit depressing, no hate from customers.
People know its their fault, they spent the money, but for whatever reason they cant pay. People want to pay their bills, its embarassing when they cant. Totally different than lost luggage where it is the airline's fault.
roughly $25k // 1) stop adding to it 2) start a budget or make double payments 3) sign up for a loan like SoFi
Sofi is a fintech company that simply provides personal loans. the appeal is that they have fully digital application process and do their own risk scoring. they cut off .2% from your rate if you agree to automatic draft for your payments. We used them for home improvement rather than debt consolidation but the process is the same.
Like outstanding debt that you can’t pay off or just how much you’ve ever racked up on a statement?
$25K on a statement but that's because we put all of our wedding and honeymoon expenses on it in order to get the most points. We paid it off with our wedding "savings" fund before it was due but it was stressful to see that amount every time I logged in. Can you look into rolling your debt to a card with a 0% APR? Can you look into what you are/were you spending the most money on? If it's shopping, unsubscribe from those promotional emails and unfollow the accounts.
I racked up about 387k the one time but paid it off the same payment cycle. I wanted the points haha. Not sure if that counts
What did you end up using all those points on?
Y’all have some crazy credit limits! I would not purchase anything if I do not have enough balance in my checking account to cover it. I have small nest egg in savings and the rest is in equities
To be clear though, I still put things on credit cards.. because free money! I just pay it off every week
Racked up $10K in my early twenties. Paid it off when a company I was working at was acquired. Haven’t carried a balance since.
30k but paid it off 10 months later interest free.
35K. Paid off smallest card first, and kept rolling the additional payment into next card. I built a formula based on daily compounded interest x balance to see how much each card was costing me in fees and developed a strategy to pay the least in interest. Also transferred some to a card with a 0% Interest for x months. When I got large sums of money (bonus, tax return) went to cc balance.
Most important - I stopped using the cards!
My corporate Amex balance is constantly ~15% of my net worth lol
I had 60k in CC and about 80k in personal loans. Ive got a software company on the side that hasn't started making money yet. I've also had about $15k out of pocket medical for the last 10 years or so.
Flipped to contracting and I'm down to about $20k on cc and the personal loans.
60k in credit card debt monthly, but I was bringing in 80k a month. It’s relative to what you make. It was like $800 a month in freebies from Amex monthly. My own rules, is my total monthly payments can’t exceed half a months check. I try to pay everything cash or within 30 days. I keep one loan of some kind going long term for credit. I always expect my salary will be cut in half if a recession hits. If it does I’ll still afford my lifestyle. If something unforeseen happens like IRS deciding I owe 15k I can get myself out of trouble quickly. Or if my transmission blows up I can afford to fix it. Never live to your means because yours friends do. Make a lot, live like you are poor.
