Hi 🐠! My firm is willing to file an EB3 GC for me, however I’m from a highly backlogged country and was wondering what’s the realistic timeline for it from start to finish? The process seems to be stressful, to say the least. Alternatively, I have the ability to venture out into Canada (as I’m yet to pursue my MBA, after which I plan on pivoting into a diff. industry). What would you do?
Moving to NYC from Europe. Gonna make 170-180k pre Bonus. My partner is a student in NYC. How much rent can I afford in the city if I want to still have a fun life. My partner can chip in 1.5 to 2k per month.
At what point do you talk salary with a recruiter? Want to get it out of the way because if expectations aren’t in line no point in continuing discussions, but don’t want to bring it up too soon?
Travel recommendations for mid-august within 3 hours of Northern NJ (Chatham) for a couple and a bengal cat? Looking to decompress in a relaxing and scenic setting before starting at a new firm, budget ideally under $1500.
We have a trip to Miami planned in two weeks. Just saw that Florida is averaging 20,000 cases day of mostly the delta variant. Super bummed as we’re both vaccinated and hopefully was going to get away, but looks like we may have to change plans. 😭
I hate my job so much. It’s like when I’m there I feel like I’m wasting my time like I’m losing money being there. It’s an operations job and quite honestly stayed too long. There are processes where there are 20 things to do just to send the P&L out. It’s such a relic. I am 36 and freaking out because I want to do something new. I’m working 60 hour work weeks because people keep quitting. I’m over it. I’ve been interviewing but just in that waiting period to see what happens. Any advice?
In the 70s before first year raise. Headhunters coming out of the wood works now, especially Corp dev/strategy roles. When they ask for salary expectations I say in the 90s. Am I too low/high?
People accepted counter offer and got higher pay and raise again. Should I also do this? Is it ethical? I’m in tax NYC office.
Hi, Consulting Moms! I need advice - I am leaving industry to return to consulting. I have offers from KPMG and Deloitte, and we are looking to start a family ASAP (we have been actively trying and I have a feeling it would be just my luck to start a new job and find out I’m pregnant). Would love your insight around personal experience with hours per week, work-life balance, culture, etc. Offers are same level/role/scope (Change Management / Transformation / Human Capital) and same salary. TY!
My MD makes joke yet subtle jab about my expenses. My reply: wait does this mean I can’t book Westin anymore?
Any word from Deloitte on bonus and promos?
Anyone move from Big 4 to Grant Thornton? Any major differences? Thinking about switching.
Anyone in PHL? I'm the dude sitting in Revive with a bottle of Belvedere. Let's smash... err.. get smashed.
Expecting my first child in Nov and starting a new consulting role in a few weeks. Totally new field for me coming from engineering. Any advice for starting the new role and handling mom life?
Though I’ve disclosed my epilepsy to a few in my firm, I don’t think it’s been recorded anywhere and I’ve always had a hard time telling people what should be done if I have a seizure that goes beyond, “please don’t call 911 unless it lasts more than 10 min.” As we go back to work, I will be sharing an office with another senior. I feel like it would be courteous to disclose the info to her in case something happens. Any tips, tricks, or specific advice? My seizures are ALWAYS grand mal.
Suggestions for safe parking space near JFK, need it for 5 days. Anyone used Jamaica or Raddison parking?
Question for parents (clueless non-parent here). I like to buy my nieces (ages 1 to 5) clothes for their birthday/xmas. What stores have clothes that your kids/you like?
