6 months, and highly recommend it if you are in high burn engagements to reset before you start somewhere new
I worked on my own business, and a month of travel in Asia and 3 weeks in Europe.
3 years. FIRE is real.

Damn! I worked at a factory and went from running a steel forming machine on Friday to showing up I’m a suit on Monday. Weird change! My floor foreman threatened to withhold my check if I didn’t finish out the summer. I now realize that was probably illegal. 😂

5 months. Used PTO (2 months) and search time we get fully and a couple extra weeks after that.
McK provides 3 months insurance after last official day.

Did the same thing. It was a weird transition bouncing from one company Friday to a new one Monday but it worked out well 🥲

A year. Got downsized during the ‘08 crash, took a year to go teach English in Japan.
That’s a lot of friends
6 months. Traveled, relaxed, read books, walked around my city, just took time for me. It was fantastic.
5 months between business school and starting full-time. Moved back with parents, got in great shape, spent loads of time with friends and family. 6+ weeks of domestic and international travel. One of the best periods in my life.
A weekend for each of the four job changes in five years. Don’t recommend… take some time. Take a vacation.
2.5 months. My company folded but we were owned by a large company that gave all of us very generous severance packages. I got my new offer the last week of my old job and needed to relocate so negotiated the 2.5 months off. Spent the summer traveling around the world and blew all of my severance during those 2.5 months. Didn’t regret it at the time; kind of regret it now. It was a lot of money to make disappear so quickly. 😭😭
19 months. Was amazing!
6-8 months. Each time for unexpected military location of spouse.
Will soon be taking off like a month between jobs. If I didn’t have a lease, I’d love to go longer, but it’s also nice knowing I have the next thing lined up before I jump.

When I left Deloitte recently, I got paperwork in the mail to extend insurance with cobra. You can probably do that and pay for it. I didn’t need it so I didn’t read the details but Deloitte HR should honestly be able to help you with the details too. I found them to be super helpful during my transition.
5 months, tho I had an offer in 3. Extra two were background check and onboarding.
