I worried about this but it wasn't a big deal. I got close to 1.5/2 months and was honest but also knew if the new job asked I'd be willing to compromise.
Rising Star
There’s typically not a lot of urgency in-house, imo.
I got 2 months with my first in house position after big law. My current role the need was greater and got just over a month from offer
I negotiated 2 month wait period for the same reasons you’ve expressed.
We had somebody delay a start by 4 months so they could collect bonuses though I’m pretty sure she was using the time to continue to interview. I kept saying she never going to show up because she was radio silent when we tried to reach out to her. She did show up on day 1 and lasted 10 weeks
Depends on how urgent their need is
It may also depend on the industry. It’s not uncommon for large banks to require 60-90 day notice periods for senior execs, including attorneys. As a result it’s pretty routine for applicants to have delayed start dates.
