So with 60 days Military PTO, a pretty healthy vacation policy, good benefits overall and from what I am perceiving as a pretty damn good career path, almost like an Army officer career path, is this consulting career actually a pretty good gig? I mean, it seems like you can do just about whatever you want in Accenture, even if “consulting,” isn’t the path you want to go down long term. Are these people wining about comp, hours, and projects, just clueless to what the real world is like, and how much Military hours and “projects” can be? I don’t know I just feel like this is like the civilian equivalent to the Military, and not in a bad way, thoughts?

Need some advice. I have some short weekend trips planned now that it’s safe to travel (haven’t seen my parents since March 2020, still haven’t taken a honeymoon). The problem is that these trips are spaced basically once a month through Nov. It’s usually just a Fri-Sun or Thru-Sun deal, but not sure how to try to get the time off. I’ve never taken a full week, I’m well above hours, and I’m not trying to make partner. Just trying to figure out how to minimize working over these weekends.

Any other California residents at KPMG not paid out your final paycheck and PTO payout on your last day? Last day was earlier this week (after 2 week notice period) and I’m still waiting. Have contacted HR and payroll/DAS and no one can confirm when exactly I should be getting my money. What’s the best way to prepare for a transition to a new company with a new in-house team and a new manager? I have two weeks before I start and trying to get a head start before my new work load piles up. Should I focus on refresher books, or courses for soft skills or technical skills? What may be helpful to think ahead of time for smooth integration once the roller coaster starts?

What is reasonable amount of notice to give? Does it depend on title level? How much notice for counsel positions? Sr Counsel? DGC?

I need advice. I am in-house as well as work in operations. My title is Counsel/Deputy COO. I have worked here over 4 years and before this had no legal titles but like Contracts Manager. Currently been working in house for 2 1/2 years and would like to relocate in the near future within a state we operate in. Been working remote for the past 2 years as well. Current office is come in once a week, if I relocated I could come in twice a month, would need to fly in tho, would this be a reasonable ask?

Do people think that remote roles limit upward mobility?
It seems that remote work is generally viewed as desirable given the flexibility it provides and the possibility of receiving high TC while living in a LCOL area. I wonder though if joining a company remote will ultimately make it harder to gain more responsibility and receive higher TC. I also wonder whether there is anything that prevents a company from changing their remote policy, thus forcing a move. Maybe this is too new to know.

If so, have you had an accommodation request for an applicant to take the test/interview remotely? In the past I feel like modifying a pre employment exam to allow applicant to take from home would be burdensome/substantial modification. But now with remote/telework I am not sure. Any thoughts?

I recently went in-house and noticed that OC bills are out of control, mainly due to extremely high billing rates. Has anyone negotiated lower rates with OC? And if so how to go about it?

I should note that they do a good job and I would like to maintain the relationship but I can’t at the current price.
