Anyone else heard about the mother's day strike wrt Roe being overturned? I want to support but I think I would for sure get fired if I stopped working a whole week out of the blue. It feel like I should do more than pause my shopping and spending for a week

2 glasses of wine was my max for an entire evening

Just entering my 3rd tri and I’ll have half a glass of wine every now and then - maybe once every 1-2 weeks in the 2nd tri? I miss red wine so much (the NA options are terrible). In the past week it’s been a bit more - twice - but still just a couple of ounces each time. I was feeling guilty but confirmation from our European friends is making me feel better!
Do American doctors really brainwash you into 0?? There is no risk to light drinking. 1 glass is the norm in Europe but we’re less of a binging culture. I imagine you all are still recovering from prohibition?

Wow thats even more widely accepted than alcohol. So sad

None for me

Probably none. Why bring toxins into your body during this process?
Half a bottle of scotch. I’m the father though.

So smart.
I don’t judge anyone who drinks while pregnant - but I also understand someone who chooses not to risk it. It’s easy to say “what’s the big deal” when you have had no challenges getting pregnant; as someone who is finally pregnant after 5 years and thousands of dollars of fertility treatment (and currently in a high-risk pregnancy), I’m conservative in my approach to everything. No lunch meat, no rare meat, no tea, no sushi, very limited caffeine, and I don’t drink (although I didn’t drink before getting pregnant either). That being said, I’d never shame or question any pregnant woman who chooses to partake in all of those things.
It’s a personal decision, and I hope we can all respect each other’s choices - we are all doing the best we can as soon-to-be mamas 😊

Agree. It all varies by person. Do what you think is best for you.
Current science does not have a conclusive answer on alcohol consumption. Maybe the timing of alcohol consumption is critical. Maybe it had something to do with the mother’s certain DNAs. Who knows!
No need to judge others who drink. Similarly, no need to judge others who are very cautious.
There are fantastic NA options out there, why risk it?

My favorite NA option I found (tried sooo many):
Lyres Amalfi Spritz (aperol spritz), absolutely tastes like the real deal. They have other options like a gin and tonic and a rum and coke that are OK, but the amalfi spritz is by far the best
** The Official Spirit of Dry January ** Lyre's Non Alcoholic Spirits Mixed (Amalfi Spritz/G&T/Classico) - Ready To Drink Spritz, Sparkling, Gin & Tonic Cocktails - Pack of 12 (3 Packs of 4 X 8.5 Fl Oz) https://a.co/d/57szOBT
And then also the NA version of weihenstephaner hefe was the best NA beer I found in terms of being close to the real deal; I’m not a fan of hoppy beers and even the athletic brewing non IPA options were a bit too hoppy for my liking.
Should be none y’all…

One drink, one to two times per week
Same
I’m just not sure the (potential/undetermined) risk is worth the reward. It’s 9 months, maybe longer if you breastfeed which if you do the advice is to wait 2 hours after drinking a glass of wine before nursing.
I’m happy to wait as I don’t need alcohol and as the risk is not truly known, I’d personally rather not risk it.
No judgement to you OP you’ll do what you want anyway, just throwing my opinion into the mix. Plus I’m also European.
Basically 0 (occasionally will venture a small sip of husband's wine, once).
I feel I can wait out pregnancy, not worth potential risk.
Not judging at all OP, but what is the up side of one glass of wine? I love the way a nice red tastes but does one glass it help you decompress? Usually I have to drink 2 to feel the effects but I know everyone is different in that way.
If you're upping it to 2 so you feel a little something, that means your baby is feeling the effects too but multiplied because they're so much smaller, right? I've always thought it can't be good for the kid to have alcohol in their system and if it's such a minimal impact to me, I don't see the benefit of doing it.

My body has zero desire for alcohol. If it was palatable to me right now, I’d have a few sips of wine, maybe a small tasting pour.

I’m about to pop, so a bit further along! Your doctor sounds very reasonable.

Damn!!! Whats going on in this country? Max is two for me for birthdays big parties or big celebrations, otherwise none or occasionally 1. But I’m European and it’a totally fine to have a beer or wine there. I abstain from hard liqueur obvio
I havent had a full drink since pregnant. I know the data and understand 1 drink isn’t harmful, but it’s burned in my head that pregnant women shouldn’t drink lol. I’ve Deff taken sips of my husbands/friends drinks for a taste, but now that I’m SUPER pregnant, i feel like i was getting judged in public for taking a small sip of each of my husbands different beers in a flight he got. One of my senior managers ordered a glass on champagne on the last day of busy season at 8 months pregnant (her husband is a doctor btw) and the waiter was like “uhhh ma’am, are you sure?”. That bothered me.
Ahahah I did this too! Except I was only 5 months (so wasn’t visibly pregnant to others..they prob just assumed I was a little chunky in the belly)
1 (4-5oz) glass of wine or a standard abv beer. Once a week, occasionally twice.
Checked w OB as well as my fertility clinic. The book Expecting Better endorses it as well.

First pregnancy and after trying for so long to get pregnant and finally getting pregnant after years, it’s not worth the risk for me. I also tend to be rather conservative in the foods I eat as well for the same reason. No judgement on anyone who does have a drink though! Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so afraid bc I’d love a glass of wine (more specifically a nice glass of champagne) 😋
Thanks!
