Project had a market in Vegas. Exec Sponsor on the project loved Vegas. To thank the team for all of our hard work, our last week was spent in Vegas on the client’s dime. The sponsor justified it to corporate as market-research for a fictional phase 2 we were working on. No meetings, all expenses covered, suites at the Cosmo, table at Hakassaan, limo service & vip tables at “other” clubs. I was newly single at the time, so it was pretty cool.

Flew to Vegas for a weekend — from Sydney
Safaris in Kenya and Tanzania
Trekking through the jungle to see silverback gorillas in the wild in Rwanda
Picked up on the aircraft jet bridge and taken down the stairs to a waiting car to avoid going through the airport (my very first day as a consultant)
Jump seated in the cockpit on a bunch of commercial flights
Team offsite on a cruise ship we chartered through the Yasawa Islands in Fiji
Flew from Kenya to London for a Christmas party
Flew from Dubai to the US for a Christmas party

Got myself fired from a toxic client - when i stood up for my team. They imploded soon enough and folded. 😀

I thought this only happened to me thank you

Solved a bloody difficult issue on a moment of inspiration in a plane - wrote it down on a paper napkin borrowed from the flight attendant - spilled coffee on it before the big meeting at the client - and presented it and won what was at that time the largest contract I had done till then . Sadly never had another incident to match it since then

It had to be drawn out as a diagram - not easy on a blackberry . And I was super duper worried that I will lose my train of thought if I got up and unpacked my laptop or notebook from my bag in the overhead bin . When coffee spilt on the napkin - I really wished I did it on my laptop

Flying to Berlin purely to attend a Christmas party then flying back to London next day.

On an earlier occasion, delaying flight home so we could swing by Monaco for a beer on the way to airport (in Nice). That detour made it 4 countries in one day.

It’s not so bad when you account for holidays, lower cost of living and job security 😁

Although in some countries it goes too far... U.K. gets disproportionate layoffs to rest of Europe because getting rid of people in places like France is really hard

Also one flight home during last winter there was bad weather so I rebooked a flight with a layover in Denver, knowing Denver also was gonna get bad weather, so I ended up getting “stuck” in Denver and got a top floor hotel room with 20ft ceiling and the best view of downtown/the mountains and spent the following day exploring the city and getting stoned all for almost free (besides the weed obvi) to me. I didn’t even charge that Friday as PTO.

Anyone here into astrophotography? Want to up my game with deep sky objects, nebula, star clusters, etc. But confused on telescopes and telescope equipment.

Looks like I would need 1) Telescope, 2) Field flattener 3) Tracking mount (my existing tracking mount can only take 6.6 lbs) 4) T Adapter 5) Sturdy tripod (my travel tripod is too flimsy)

Any other gear I would need? Is there any place that sells reliable packages at the 800-1200? Debating whether to get a computerized mount at this range
