What’s the most hassle free state to register and operate a small business? Trying to decide between VA & WA but open to others.

What do you mean by hassle free? Like low taxes? If so, Nevada and Delaware are a favorite. But don’t forget most states require you to be registered in their state if you are doing business there so while you could register in another state you’d still, likely, have to register in your home state.

This. I use Delaware.

It doesn’t really matter but if you’re registering an entity in any state, but have nexus in a different one, then you’re going to have to qualify in the “foreign” state anyway in which case it’s just easier to qualify the entity in the “foreign” state to begin with

like

It also depends on what kind of business you are starting. Also some states don’t have sales tax, so that can be an incentive for clients.

Here’s my first question for this group. What’s a good and inexpensive PDF editing tool? Highlighting, annotating, and bookmarking while working from home is a problem for some of us who still like to use paper. My firm won’t purchase “full Adobe” for anyone other than legal assistants and paralegals.

When you leave, does it make a difference to companies if you made it through at least a busy season as a senior or just that you have the title? I did have some experience this year as an A2 where I split some of the senior responsibilities with the manager. However, I’m worried if I leave before busy season, companies will see that as really just being an associate.

Where and what are these companies in Michigan?!

According to the article Michigan was the fastest growing state for venture capitalists, but as a native to Michigan, I have no idea how to find these startups? Anyone know how to? Working in a startup atmosphere or for a startup sounds so fun to me, but I just don’t know how to meet people also interested in this topic local to me.

Hey guys! Need some advice, pls! I work for a law consultant firm that outsource some of their services on a daily basis. I found a way to save them 100k+ annually by getting service done for a fraction of what they’re currently paying. Same service but lower cost basis. I haven’t brought it to their attention yet, but I’d like to be compensated for the massive savings that they’ll be getting. Any ideas on how I can work out a recurring deal with the company.

I have the offer to help build an arm (it would be it’s own new identity) of a business I have worked for. I currently have no investment in this, but I want to bring up the idea of a stake somehow and not just help someone build another business of their own. I want to be part of it. I don’t have funds to invest, but I do have my skill set. I’d love advice on how to start this conversation and also the structure request. I don’t know where to start.
