Keywords from the job posting.
Almost all major companies in the US use ATS, software that scans resumes for relevance to the job posting. Relevance is determined by whether keywords from the job posting are included. Things like: job title, qualifications, skills requested, etc.
Definitely optimize for each job you're applying to. Leverage analytics and quantifiable numbers as much as possible. I am currently making $75k as a senior marketing associate.
I agree with above around using keywords...also I did resume versions based on the type of position (e.g., a coordinator position, consultant etc.). Salary will very widely based on location and company...pretty sure my first job was like $40k

My resume had brief info about some school projects where we did market research/strategy for real companies. Also had a marketing internship but not at a notable company (loved it regardless). I was involved in a marketing club at school in a leadership position. Also included a lot of softwares, but I don’t know if that mattered because the only ones that were on my resume that I use in my job day to day are MS suite. I also had a really high GPA but not sure if that matters so much in marketing.
I make $65K, 0 YOE. Got very lucky. From what I can tell a lot of places low ball entry level marketers. I had another offer for $49K and turned it down. Don’t jump on the first offer you get. I think showing that you’re eager to learn and a friendly, engaged person can go a long way in an interview.

Also, I think playing to my strengths really helped me. I love getting to be creative and working on branding/strategy/design etc., but I realized during the job hunt that I just don’t stand out for that on paper. I’m objectively really good at math/analytics, more so than the average marketing student. That’s what I think helped me get the role I found. So, definitely play to your strengths and apply for roles where your less common skills are needed.
I would ask for no less than 75k starting out.
