What’s the right way to say I need the day off coz of massive period cramps? When you are a lead and in the middle of RFP or project. feel bad that I can’t give 200% and it’s not a capability gap but.

Food poisoning- it’s the only male understood equivalent

likesmarthelpfulfunny

I am not feeling well today and will not be coming in.

I don’t see the need to specify your medical conditions to anyone or make up another reason.

like

You might also try giving 50%, I did that all through bronchitis and everyone said I did great. You don’t need to give 200% at all tomes

like

Ditto to the food poisoning. But if the cramps are habitual, I’d go to your doctor to ask for a non-narcotic like a light muscle relaxer. My doctor prescribed me those and they changed my life.

Thanks that’s helpful.

Try Curcumin (turmeric concentrate) everyday between end of this cycle to your new one. Helps!

Thanks will try that

It’s definitely viewed that way. I also posted this in the Deloitte bowl to make men aware so they don’t judge. But I wasn’t to hear your experiences, to add some context, I am a M and throughout my SC and M years I have felt so guilty for having to excuse myself some days I have endured the pain and done the work just so that I don’t get judged.

How do you deal with teammates who don't take initiative or move things forward on a project without being told to do so?

We have a deliverable due on Friday with alot of things to get done before then and seems like no one cares? I ask for status updates and all I get is no, haven't done that, will do it now. Sure enough, ask next day and the response is no, haven't done it yet.

These folks are seniors as well. Partner looks to me to provide a status update, and all I can say is in process.

I’m the person who tells people it’s okay to open up at work about mental health issues, and that it’s okay to talk about it. I’m also the person who struggles with mental health but will likely not talk about it at work because of the past experiences I’ve had where colleagues brushed it off and told me to let it go/be better. I just don’t want others to not have anyone to talk to… but maybe it’s really me who doesn’t have anyone to talk to…

I personally feel that it's absolutely ludicrous the US government is not enforcing or at least asking people to wear masks in healthcare environments like at the pharmacy, doctor's offices, or the hospital. We all wear ours behind the counter but I had a patient come in today WITH covid to pick up her prescription, no mask. I get that she already has it so she isn't worried, but what about the other people around??

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

Just hit the 1 year mark a couple months ago and I'm at my limit. I haven't been able to focus at work to the point that I'm getting nothing done despite taking time off. Who here has been in this situation before? I'm thinking of making more drastic changes like rolling off of my project if I decide that this isn't sustainable.

Just accepted an offer as a project delivery specialist. To be completely honest, mainly just took the role for the almost 33% pay increase and how much I enjoyed the team during the interview process. Curious about others’ experience (the good, the bad, the ugly 😅)? The project I’m on is slated to last 3-4 years and I’m not necessarily trying to “find a home” at Deloitte or the big four, in general.

I’m an early career as a Project Manager (4 yoe). Just got eliminated from my role as an Associate Project Manager. I’m actively looking for work but thinking of spending $ and time to get certification as a PM. Is it worth it? If so, which certificate should I put my money on? I was looking at eCornell PM. I think I want to get a PMP as well.

This past couple of weeks I’ve received some feedback that projects I’ve sold have not been delivered to client expectations. If you work at a small agency in NYC, could you tell me what your monthly health insurance premiums are for families? Have any of you felt your careers aren’t progressing as fast as your yt contemporaries? I just went down a LinkedIn rabbit hole looking through the profiles of some women (non-black) who I worked alongside 12-15 years ago at internships and entry level roles. Almost all of them are director level. I’m still struggling to get to manager level. All of us started in media roles then transitioned to tech in the last 5 years or so. Has anyone else noticed this?

Which one would be a better choice at the moment considering the countries and opportunities available, possibility of settlement etc. Also any insight on pay in NZ

How do you negotiate an offer the correct way

Currently struggling with lack of motivation. I’m in my 3rd year at my firm and when I started I was hitting 9+ billable per day before I left the office. Now, the saying: when there’s no consequence for poor work ethic, and no reward for good work ethic, there is no motivation” hits home. Over the past two years I’ve seen the opposite of indispensable employees. Yet, they sit at the same table as I do and make more. Any advice?
