Hi fishes, curious question.
What are the issues if the basic part of a compensation is less? (Other than affecting the related components like house rent tax exemption limit, PF contribution etc)
The present offer proposed to me has basic pay as low as 33% of fixed. Is this a red flag about the company?
Anyone have good tips for sourcing pentesters? I am finding some but keeping them engaged/in process definitely a challenge! Also seems compensation is all over the board so any insight into this is also appreciated.
Considering a job offer in Miami, but Cost of living is crazy, for a single bachelor salary there will be 80k ? With a gov company. Who's worked near Doral ?
Fellow Partners/Principals, how does Partner deferred comp/pension work at PWC and EY. I have direct admit offers (verbally confirmed today) from both. I am also in the process of switching to Principal track Deloitte in the upcoming FY and Deloitte’s pension is based on avg of your best 3 yr. I am hearing that may not be the case at PWC. I would like to account for that in negotiating fair signing bonus and/or annual income offer. I am leaning towards PWC. Thanks in advance!

This question is for my brother.
He joined h3xaware as fresher this year and has unknowingly declared medical insurance for parent. As I am already having another medical coverage for them. Is there a way to opt out of the insurance from portal.
It caused a deduction of 2k from his salary and is not required.
Any information on this or process will be really appreciated

Recent laterals: do you have any experience being offered a below-market salary? How did you handle it? Was it difficult to get the firm to meet market by pointing to competitor's pay? Really like this firm, but I have to say I'm quite disappointed by the salary they offered me.
I am currently a gov attorney at a major metro area in the northeast. I recently received an offer from a ID private firm (1900 billable hours) in the area for about 40k more than my currently salary. I was going to accept, but now I’m having second thoughts about leaving a secure gov job with good benefits. Really not sure what to do.
Masters in IO, 6 years HR experience & 1.5 years human capital consulting in Houston. Salary estimate? And anyone hiring?
I have 8 YOE, current CTC 16 LPA, I gave a job interview for the scrum master role at Tata Consultancy services everything went well. During salary Negotiation, they agreed on 23LPA and I was waiting for an offer letter, after a week I called HR for a follow-up, and she said that they have put me on hold. She didn’t give any reason and said they will reach me out if there is any vacancy. What do you guys think? Should I keep hope?
Hi 🐠, have a trip coming up that I could use some advice for. Have to book a non-refundable economy trip to Osaka, can fly from Philadelphia or New York. United 1k with lots of GPU/miles (continued)
I’m a generalist. My leadership is enamored with every specialist lawyer they meet, literally salivating to hire them as GC, until their aspirations are dashed by the lawyer’s limited scope and huge and unobtainable price tag. The more specialists they meet, the more they think I’m useless, even though I do 90% of the company’s substantive legal work and we go months at a time without using outside counsel. I do solid consistent work across our whole spectrum of needs, how do I advance?
What do you say is your occupation? In valuation - you’re not really an accountant - neither are you an investment banker - and consultant really doesn’t match it. Business Appraiser?

Happy Monday! What’s on your wrist?
Partner treats me poorly one-on-one, almost shockingly so (condescending tone, occasionally scornful and sharp comments, little I do is ever good enough for her) yet apparently praises me to others. This Partner is also my People Lead. Is she knocking me into shape in private so that her public praise is deserved, or is she a dinosaur with an antiquated style? What do we think
(Fwiw my reviews are consistently that I’m a top performer in our group)

Rents are through the roof for new leases in Manhattan. Year ago many were able to lock in contracts with huge COVID discounts. But I suspect as these are coming up for renewal many will be forced to move out again. Do you think rents will come down in the next 1-2 months?
I had a shit experience at a doctor appointment but need to come in soon for a follow up procedure that I'm unsure can be completed elsewhere. Anyone have a similar experience and want to share how you handled it?

I started looking for external opps thinking my team wouldn’t be able to resolve my current situation. Have three interviews coming up as a result. But I connected with my team lead and somehow ended up telling her what I was going through, and she is now taking actions to help me resolve current situation. I would very very much rather stay at my current firm if they are able to accommodate - should I still do the interviews? Or decline and see how things go at my current firm?
