65-70 is range for AE in nyc agencies
What city? 65k is about right for an AE assuming your company has SAE and AS titles. 50k is definitely low.
Oh god, in that case, assuming your numbers are in CAD, that’s pretty horrible. I was making more than that as an AAE in Chicago. I’d say if you can get in the neighborhood of $90k CAD/$70k USD, you’d be at industry average.
Also…. I make 75k as an AE in NY/Boston. So depending on cost Of living in your city they should be more open for a change
Agreed. Other factors aside, I think $65 is a solid target.
$50k for an AE with 2.5 years is way low, doubly so if you’re in NYC or LA.
Go on Glassdoor/Payscale or similar and get comps to show as evidence that you’re underpaid.
depending on your performance and the work streams that you manage without much supervision I would shoot higher. Just tell them all you’ve done and what you plan on doing for the company and how your role and responsibilities have expanded over your time there. You should be paid to accommodate that.
In Chicago, I made $55k as an AE with 6 months of experience. A year later I was promoted to an AS (our agency didn’t have SAEs) and made $80k with 1.5 years experience total.

Location matters, so let’s get that out of the way.
That said, 50k is pretty entry level, so if you have peers who are making more, look more at their performance vs. tenure. Companies are moving away from tenure-based compensation so if you’re gonna make a case for an increase, point to performance and achievements, not how long you’ve been at the same pay level.
Get the AE Job Description and point to examples of how you’ve met or exceeded the expectations or responsibilities.
A Camry and a Ferrari are different prices for a reason. 🤷♂️
I’m an AE in VA making 62k
