What’s the workload like for a big law associate in Los Angeles? How much do you typically bill in a year?

Less than NYC generally speaking, still too much. But I think we get to leave earlier. Unless something is going on I usually leave around 6-7. Cannot imagine being in my office until 9 or 10 regularly

Not as bad as NYC for sure - but I know people who are pulling long hours. Depends on the firm as I'm sure you might expect.

Hi! I'm currently interviewing (3/6 interviews so far) for for an appeals manager role for DME. The job entails not only to bill for dme (cms 1500) but also to follow up on any denials or appeals, amongst other administrative duties. My questions are is it typical to have 1 person doing both the billing and denials within a new vertical for all ins.? How difficult is billing for dme as I only have experience in gyn onc and lactation billing? What's a fair salary? I have 8+ yoe in rcm, no certs.

I just wanted to share a small win, after a couple months of working on my finances. I am finally out of the negative. Man, I have to say it feels good.

Is it frowned upon to negotiate when getting promoted? If not, when would be the appropriate time? It seems to me that there would be an automatic adjustment in pay when the promotion hits. Do I speak to HR or the manager?

First time posting here but… I’m currently a 1st year Tax Analyst making 58,000 plus bonus. I was never informed on how raises work for this company, but it’s the end of the year and there has not been any talk of performance evaluation, which I assumed was when compensation would be covered. This is my first “real” industry job so I’m not too sure. Is it too soon in my career to consider looking else where? The area I live has a pretty height cost of living. (F23)

I just got an offer for a hybrid Product Owner / Scrum Master / Project manager role for a SWD company.

Wonder what I should counter. I have five direct YOE and two indirect.

Base: $145k
Bonus: +10%

It feels a bit low but it’s also more than I make now.

Am I making enough profit for my firm?

I became a 2 year lawyer in September. I started working at my firm, a mid-sized firm practicing commercial business litigation and PI, in March of 2020. Last year I made the firm $180k from my billable hours and I was paid $85k + full health and other benefits.

This year, I'm on track to make about $150k and to make the firm about $450k from my billable hours and PI cases that I originated and settled.

Trying to do right for my firm. I'm treated well.

My full time job (not SMU) is literally making me sick-spent time at the ER. One associate quit and another is out of full paid parental leave (must be nice, I’m not paid for doing double the work)…so I’m now expected to do the work of 3 associates. My supervisor isn’t exactly understanding, and I don’t know what to do. I’ve been searching for jobs, but it’s difficult since my background is diverse and not focused on one area of law. If I quit, how hard is it to find a new job?

He keeps trying to push me into dictating but I want to type my stuff out, I do not think I am that slow at typing my work etc and I am getting assigned tasks done so I do not see a difference.
