Does it make sense to hire an executive career coach? So, I want to move on and find another job, also I would rather move to California or NY, I’m in MA now. My problem is that I’ve been with my current employer for 7 years, and they transferred me from Europe 5 years ago. I’m in my first VP job, and I got promoted from the inside. So my network is not really that big, it’s largest part consists of our employees, and I don’t have very deep connections in the HR community yet.
For folks in federal, Does having a Secret or TS/SCI clearance increase job security or salary? I'm curious to know how much value firms place on individuals with a clearance.
Alright yall, we are out of the July slow down. Time to kick it up and finish this year off. Tell Rona to pound sand and get it done.
Classic awkward need to address body oder in the workplace. We have truck drivers who share trucks and the other drivers at the point of wanting to leave. We’ve already talked once this employee but nothing has changed. How far can we go? Write-up? Eventual termination if there is a refusal to shower? We do not have specific policies on hygiene.
Ethics opinion: want to start building a website for a practice / state I'm not yet barred in. I won't be taking clients but want to start building the site and working on back end stuff like Seo. I know it takes at least 6 months to a year to start building traffic. What's an ethical way to do this. Maybe call it a lawyer referral service? Then once I'm barred take that part out. Any advice would be helpful.
Anyone else think companies have convinced us salary is a taboo topic only to help the top get away with unequal pay. base salary should be standardized and bonuses depend on performance (chargeable hours, project reviews, hours charged to internal codes).
Going back to work in a couple weeks after being on maternity leave. Already sad and upset at the thought of leaving my little one. How do you cope those first days and weeks back to work?
Do law firms really look at writing samples? I’ve been applying for jobs and had to make up a writing sample to use (I haven’t written a memo since 2L summer). I’ve been in house for the last year doing transactional work and managing a team of lawyers. Does the writing sample really matter when you are 3 years out of law school?
It’s great to have an HR forum! Curious what “staying connected” strategies are being implemented to stay in touch with furloughed employees?
Anyone willing to give a referral? ~1 year of experience here but this is not a place to build a career. Comment a burner and I’ll send my resume. Thanks 🐠
Anyone have flight booked with chase points but are trying to cancel now? The airline is allowing refunds on cancellations but I'm not sure how that works with Chase UR points.
https://www.pipedrive.com/ This weeks technology highlight is Pipedrive. My company still does not have a formal CRM. I went out and found my own.
How do you get billable work? Are you constantly knocking on doors & hunting it down? Or are assignments generally given to you? Do you ever have periods of being unable to find any?
Has anyone had a request to terminate an employee after they returned from a leave of absence? What was your experience like?
I am a second year associate in an Italian medium-sized law firm. I have always worked in privacy\new technologies mostly with international clients (it’s been 5 years now). I love it, but - after I passed the bar exam - I feel like I need new challenges. Also, my feeling is that my career needs a boost. I am considering applying to some LLM program in the US (maybe in California). Would you recommend it? Or it doesn’t worth the effort?
