Neither do I tbh.. a smart watch does so much more!
Some people are into watches, just like how other people are into shoes/sneakers, designer bags, baseball cards, etc.
If you want a Rolex, cool. Just don’t get a black bezel submariner like every other first purchasing Rolex person, get something more unique or defined to your style.
I said first purchasing Rolex person, not first year. And they are most certainty not incredibly hard to find.

.
Spend your money on things you like. Nobody needs a $10 million funeral, or a $5 million dollar ex-wife.
Joking aside, you can get great condition pre-owned Rolex’s for under $10k. Take some time to do some shopping and you may even be able to sell it for a profit a year later.

Never understood the point of expensive watches. But also can’t say I’ve ever seen more than one or two associates with a Rolex.
If you’re getting an expensive watch, get the Cartier tank. It’s better.
I have been trying to figure out what flex watch to get. Thank you SA1
What if you just want to buy a Rolex because you like nice things? Think there’s def a difference between folks who are knowledgeable about and/or that have a preference for nice things selectively and those who get them to look rich. Subtle difference on its face but cars are a great example. Some want a Mercedes because the world will think they’re rich. Some want one because they appreciate the quality, maybe you like a certain model for its combo of power (engine), luxury and reliability. Some wear nice clothes because they want people to see the logo. Others wear nice clothes that have no logo but because the quality is better. I know deep but thoughts?
Btw post above is meant to be point of conversation not adversarial to the opinions expressed above. If a lot of first years are going out and buying rollys then there is an element of “doing it bc I’ll look rich,” which is the sentiment a lot of you have already expressed above.
Feels like an older generation thing. If I was going to spend that kind of money on wearables, I’d rather have an Hermès-Apple smart watch

I endorse any and all useless luxury item purchases by associates.

Because?
This must be a NY thing. No one does this in Chicago.
Rolex or luxury car. I don’t get it.
Well that’s just silly if that’s the ONLY reason for the 2 cars... maybe he doesn’t want to put a lot of miles on the S8?

It’s a flex thing
I wanted one my whole life and so I bought it, enjoy it and use it constantly.

This is a thing? 😂 sounds so cliche
I don’t have one, but I’d be lying if I didn’t cop to wanting one. And the basic black Sub, too. I don’t know why; I can admit it’s objectively frivolous. It kinda feels like a “You’ve know you’ve made it when…” thing to me. 🤷🏽♂️
I don’t agree that this has to be a slippery slope. For a person who knows what they want and for whom a Rolex is a one time big ticket purchase, it could just be a nice (albeit very expensive) treat and symbol of their accomplishment of reaching a point where many don’t. Now if you’re foolish and continue to buy overpriced luxury items, you might end up in trouble.
There’s nothing I want as bad as I want to be free of student loan debt. I don’t buy shit. Won’t even order takeout. Making cravath. But I can smell the freedom.
