I think what's worse is that this is even a question. I'm not saying it's a question without merit. I'm just saying this industry overthinks everything. Which is a big part of the reason why it is where it is.

Who's got the right skills? Does a particular life experience count (parenthood, etc?) Who is deserving of an opportunity? Is it truly a product for females only? If so, okay. Maybe this time it makes sense. But women also drink beer, buy houses,drive cars and do the bulk of the spending in this country.
I see nothing wrong with requesting a female team for a female-centric product. It has happened to me often. My issue is keeping female creatives off of traditionally male products. Early in my career, I was taken off a beer account (which I was killing) to be put on a fashion account because "the guys know more about beer than shopping." Male CD, obvs.

I'm with AD1. Gender blindness is the only sustainable future! One word of warning: if you DONT include a female team and the project receives any sort of publicity, your agency could receive criticism.

Can you get more than one team? I've found having a both sexes (esp on a brand that skews one way) makes all the work better. I've seen men kill it on "lady" brands coming at it a totally fresh way. I've seen women route 8 boy teams on beer.
That's a lose lose situation right there.

OP, what is the product?? I mean, I do hope you're not expecting men to have a clue about tampons or bras or an ability to conceive what that user experience is, and you should very much ask for females in such an account unless you want a disaster of an ad..

Even worse: not having any female cds to put on pitches or lead teams. So our one female ecd does everything.
Or you start by assembling a diverse team. I'm a dude and I work on a lot of women's brands with other women
