EY5 you are in a great position. A higher score is not indicative of being in a better situation. You don't want to take on different types of debt just to game your score. People with 800 scores and mortgages and car payments are the most at risk if their lives go sideways. Your score will be a byproduct of how you want to live you lifestyle. You always should make the smartest credit decisions within that context, not to increase your score.
607. Took out CC debt in a last ditch effort to help my family save their house which is now owned by the bank. Have a car loan (not underwater) and $140K of student debt (took out a lot more than I needed to and used the extra $ to pay the bills in my family's home). I've been poor all my life, it's like a disease that passes down generation to generation and effects everyone around you. Sorry for the venting session FB but I'd never actually say any of this to anyone I work with because that would be extremely annoying ahahaha.
Lower than everyone on this post but more than likely i have less debt than all of you 👍🏼
Ranges between 650 and 790 In a given year depending how many houses I am flipping at a time. Your credit score has nothing to do with how well you are doing at life or the financial game.
450 I never pay hospital bills or credit card bills
Paid off my student loans, I'm looking forward to remaining debt free for a few years.
829. 740 sucks.
708 and I'm planning to get rid of my debt and save for and buy a tiny house ~$20k so that I don't have to deal with a ridiculous 30-year loan or any of the credit score bullshit.
Audit senior 1, to get to the 800s you usually need to have a mortgage.
The key is a long history of varied debt obligations. Credit cards, student loans, cars, mortgage. And no late payments.
Went from a 513 to 760. Proof second chances do work in a society that doesn't believe in them.
EY10 I'm in the same boat. Raised by my single mother whom I took care of while in college. Envious of people that can live at home and save. Hopefully, my children can have a better head start.
765 (and @EY1, 740 is really good)
Sorry to hear that EY 10. Some people can't get ahead no matter how hard they try.
740 😔
I thought 800+ was a myth.
Moss Adams 1: mine is 815. My credit currently is 4 paid off car loans. One Visa card with a 25k limit, one Visa card with a 15k limit, and one Delta skymiles amex with a 20k limit. All have a zero balance. Mortgage balance is $129k. Original balance was $148k. Home value is $205k. No other debt. Student loans were appox. $38k. Paid off in full last year.
I use a credit card for all purchases, pay statement balance every month. But since paying off car loan early, credit dropped and stopped trending upward. Quite nice to have a system that encourages more debt, especially for purchases considered a hallmark of adult life.
It was a combination of job loss/ extremely stupid financial decisions by my parents no doubt. I feel like as long as I keep living extremely humbly for the next 10 years I should be totally fine
Double edged sword of living poor: only thing you have is each other, which makes your family bond really close (good). Unfortunately, it often becomes so close that help is expected and you feel like shit for not doing anything, even things beyond reasonable (bad). I feel your pain EY10
