Honestly, I would recommend networking
with Brand Marketing folks in your local area. Buy them a a coffee. Showcase your passion/desire to break into the brand word, what you could bring (experience/skills/unique gifts), and what you'd like to learn.
After networking, ask to be considered for a
freelance project. Or, ask if they do any pro
bono initiatives (i.e. non-profits or other causes) see if you can help volunteer some hours there.
If an opportunity comes up, blow it out of
the water! You're WAY more likely to be
hired (or even considered) if you've already
worked together. Plus, it gives you a taste of
life at the company (type of work, culture,
expectations, etc.). Helping you make an
informed decision, before making a career
pivot.
Another potential suggestion, start developing content on LinkedIn. These could be short little articles: capturing your learning, critiquing brand marketing, reaction to trends/market dynamics, etc.
I’d see the goal as not to become a content creator, but, rather have something to point potential employers to. Plus, it has the potential of organic reach to your network/recruiters
