Hi Account friends! It’s the start of a new year and I was hoping you all could share any book / newsletter / blog / course recommendations that help keep you up to snuff. Feeling a bit stale and like the last year has been a tactical grind. I want to brush up on modern thinking for our industry - the latest and greatest marketing books, strategy perspectives, creative self help, etc. to feel more alive as we start 2022.

Best self-help books on the market? I've been consistently unhappy lately. Something needs to change.

My husband never reads and wants to start reading as a new hobby. What is a good book that you would recommend for a 40 year old man? Not self help books, but maybe something with action. I think he would like the Bourne series, but he saw all the movies so he's not interested, but something similar.

Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. Now that I signed the offer and is pending background checks, my anxiety is off the roof as it itches closer to my starting date.

I’m curious to learn how many applications or how long it normally takes for a junior corporate associate to lateral into another position. I am a rising third year corporate and employment associate at a small/medium size firm. I’ve been applying since I completed my first year. It’s been over a year and I’ve submitted 100+ applications. I do my best to network considering my firm doesn’t support my networking efforts and I work with good recruiters. I have been working at a Vancouver startup for about 2 years with mix roles. I have mainly developed in Python. The company went down and I have been jobless for 4 months. About a year ago, I turned down a role from Saleforce bc I took a job with a “hedge fund”. Unfortunately, i learned later the company didn’t exist - a con man story (not worth explaining). I’ve been job hunting in the commercial real estate sector for about 7 months. Interviewed with 9 companies. Received a verbal offer and accepted. Written offer came in lower than what was discussed. Has this happened to you all before? I’m in Atlanta, GA. Also on average, how many companies do you all interview with (associate level) before obtaining an offer?

Kind of a weird one but has anyone ever told you you're too nice at work? Okay soo my portions has Many names. I’m in charge of billing UPS and all the truck loads that ship out (basically an accounting job since I deal with money in that section) But I’m also in charge or making Labels for the boxes that ship out on UPS, and also booking trucks to pick up pallet orders.
