Hi Account friends! It’s the start of a new year and I was hoping you all could share any book / newsletter / blog / course recommendations that help keep you up to snuff. Feeling a bit stale and like the last year has been a tactical grind. I want to brush up on modern thinking for our industry - the latest and greatest marketing books, strategy perspectives, creative self help, etc. to feel more alive as we start 2022.
Comment your favs and THANK YOU in advance!
Best self-help books on the market? I've been consistently unhappy lately. Something needs to change.
My husband never reads and wants to start reading as a new hobby. What is a good book that you would recommend for a 40 year old man? Not self help books, but maybe something with action. I think he would like the Bourne series, but he saw all the movies so he's not interested, but something similar.
Any self-help books you ladies recommend/ have left an impact on you?
Please share below 😊
Best self-help books? Can be career, love, motivation...anything that you found really helpful!
Does anyone know of any business oriented, but novel/fictional books with interesting characters? Not looking for self-help, more of actual literature with business themes/plots.
What's with the saturation of self help/ productivity books on social media (reddit, Instagram etc.) ? Not saying I don't mind reading them, but I see this quite a bit. Know a few people who consciously only read non fiction instead. Just thinking aloud over here. Would like to hear what you guys think ?
What are some books you'd recommend, which fall in the self help category? PS - I don't read a lot of books, but this category interests me.
Would request you to share a brief synopsis of the book too, to explain how the same is worth a read.
Taking some time off. Need some book recommendations. Some light interesting non-fiction. No self help or management books. Just interesting topics that won’t make me think about work.
Book recs? I love reading self-help books but sometimes they bore me. Any good fiction series out there that can get me reading more often?
Feels like books in that niche *business self-help* genre are aimed at insecure overachievers like us. There are 500 and no one got time for that shit. What is a key takeaway from 1 you found helpful?
Interviewing at Mckinsey. Need help with case interview prep. Any suggestions beside self-help books?
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share this book, The First 90 Days, I’m reading that helps with transitions into new positions. It’s given great tips so far!
Any self-help/improvement books you want to share that you have found impactful?
Audiobook recommendations? Currently listening to The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck and I'm enjoying it, but I'd also be open to listening to novels aside from self help books.
Ladies, any suggestions or self help books that helped you when your besties were all getting engaged or married and you were single? I want to be genuinely happy but I get sad and jealous
What are you reading right now? Any types of books (fun, self help, memoir, etc) welcome. Everything i want from Libby is on hold rn so i need something to read!
Best business-oriented, but novel-style books with good writing, style, & interesting characters? Not really self-help/advise focused, more of actual literature with business themes/plots. Any recs?
Any books/self help materials for someone who is constantly worrying (and waste a lot of unnecessary time)? E.g. No matter if i pass or fail an interview, there is always something to worry about. The worrying/anxiety multiplies when I proceeded further in the interview stages. Now that I signed the offer and is pending background checks, my anxiety is off the roof as it itches closer to my starting date.
I’m on an assignment abroad. I don’t feel I’m being supported by the partners that hired me and local leadership. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
With production on hold, what’s happening with your projects? Are your campaigns being outright cancelled? Reworking ideas for animation? Or (heaven forbid) ignoring everything and still shooting?
I’m curious to learn how many applications or how long it normally takes for a junior corporate associate to lateral into another position. I am a rising third year corporate and employment associate at a small/medium size firm. I’ve been applying since I completed my first year. It’s been over a year and I’ve submitted 100+ applications. I do my best to network considering my firm doesn’t support my networking efforts and I work with good recruiters. Just really want to learn the norm here.

How can I switch role from Senior QA to Java developer role in Global Logic ?? Or is it even possible to happen ??
What is the target utilization for a Senior 2? Or number of chargeable hours goal? Is this ever hard to meet?
Another day, another tax dollar 😈
Mid 20s, 3.5 YOE-- been interviewing with roles and firms since October without luck (handful of making it to final interview round but no offer). And I've recently been dropping out of interviews just because I feel the burnout of having done 2-3 interviews a week since Thanksgiving.
How do you manage the drive to find a role vs the burnout of actually pursuing the role?
Anyone has given the interview of Business Data Analyst (EY) in Last two weeks?
Any idea about the total rounds of intervie & Process of interview ?
Please share your story.
Thanks in advance.

Has anybody ever accepted a job and realized you needed more money once you started working? How did you go about this?
Hi all! I could use some advice! I’ve been in software sales for 8 years now, plus another 10 years spent in Asset Management (changed careers in 2015).
About a year ago, I turned down a role from Saleforce bc I took a job with a “hedge fund”. Unfortunately, i learned later the company didn’t exist - a con man story (not worth explaining). I did a poor job of maintaining a relationship with the SFDC manager, whom I really liked, and now I’m without a job. And advice on reconnecting ?

I’ve been job hunting in the commercial real estate sector for about 7 months. Interviewed with 9 companies. Received a verbal offer and accepted. Written offer came in lower than what was discussed. Has this happened to you all before? I’m in Atlanta, GA. Also on average, how many companies do you all interview with (associate level) before obtaining an offer?
Kind of a weird one but has anyone ever told you you're too nice at work? I feel like I'm professional and straightforward at work, and I definitely wouldn't consider myself a kiss ass but a coworker (another woman) told me I'm too nice today. I'm kind to everyone but not so much that I would call it a part of my personality. Is this a thing?

Hey everyone! Want to hear your thoughts on having to complete a sales test as last stage before an offer? They said it’s 7 general sales questions… no prior info needed. Any advice? Is this normal?
Hi! I’ve been a sales manager role for a little over 2 years now and I’m making $120k for salary. However, I have no bonuses, no commission, no additional income no matter if I hit the sales targets or not. Advice?

Help! When would you disclose a pregnancy during the interview process?
Hi all, I was recently contacted by a headhunter for an incredible opportunity at a great startup.
I've always wanted to work for a startup and the product is awesome. I have made it to the last round. I am also 7 months pregnant (visible) and the last interview will be in person at their headquarters.
Should I say something before coming into the office for the last interview?

Hey new to this bowl. I have been sales support most of my career and made the jump to direct sales last month. I am dying of imposter syndrome and feeling like I am not getting it anyone else? I literally don't know how I am going to make my numbers. Anyone care to share stories of how they got started in this role i.e. prospecting, client conversations etc. Like basically day 1 what did you do.
